Morgan Sindall Construction has become the second construction business to receive accreditation under a scheme to improve quality management in the built environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The firm won certification under BS 99001, a standard designed to help the sector implement the requirements of the Building Safety Act while boosting regulatory compliance, cutting lifecycle costs and driving up quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

VolkerStevin and VolkerFitzpatrick, both part of VolkerWessels UK, were the first construction companies to achieve certification, in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

The scheme, which builds on the internationally recognised ISO 9001 standard for quality-management systems, includes specific requirements to reflect challenges facing the built environment, such as design quality, temporary works, inspection and test plans, and documented information.<\/span><\/p>\n

To qualify, firms must show a focus on quality-risk management, leadership accountability, competency and change management across all phases of their work, from design and procurement through to construction and handover.<\/span><\/p>\n

They are also required to consider social, economic and sustainability factors, including progress towards net zero emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Morgan Sindall Construction technical director Steffan Speer said the business was delighted to be among the earliest to achieve accreditation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis recognises the work our teams do to ensure compliance to standards and implementing building-safety management processes that provide a \u2018golden thread\u2019 of information across all our projects,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe ethos of the certification is aligned directly to our own strategy of working responsibly, innovatively, and delivering exceptional experiences for our customers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt Page, the British Standards Institution\u2019s EMEA senior vice president for assurance services,<\/span> said Morgan Sindall Construction\u2019s certification underscored its leadership in adopting best practice and improving quality across the built environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a significant milestone, reflecting a proactive commitment to delivering projects that are of high quality and aligned with the evolving expectations of clients, regulators and communities,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n
