{"id":865023,"date":"2025-08-14T21:11:46","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T02:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/14\/hse-investigating-fatal-roof-fall-of-gogglebox-star-george-gilbey\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T21:11:46","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T02:11:46","slug":"hse-investigating-fatal-roof-fall-of-gogglebox-star-george-gilbey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/14\/hse-investigating-fatal-roof-fall-of-gogglebox-star-george-gilbey\/","title":{"rendered":"HSE investigating fatal roof fall of Gogglebox star George Gilbey"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<div>\n<p><span>The investigation into the death of George Gilbey, who fell from a roof he was working on last year, is now being led by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The 40-year-old was on a job in Shoeburyness, Essex, on 27 March 2024, when he<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/health-and-safety\/investigation-launched-into-gogglebox-stars-death-03-04-2024\/\"> <span>fell to his death<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>An inquest has previously heard that he had been working on a roof when he fell through a plastic skylight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In a statement, Essex Police said two men who had been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter would face no further police action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cEssex Police have confirmed their investigation into the death of George Gilbey last year has concluded,\u201d the force said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As a result, the HSE will now lead the investigation into the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/health-and-safety\/construction-accounts-for-more-than-a-quarter-of-workplace-deaths-03-07-2025\/\"><span>HSE<\/span><\/a><span> inspector Natalie Prince said: \u201cWe have been a part of this inquiry from the outset, and we will continue to thoroughly investigate George\u2019s tragic death as the lead agency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis will aim to establish if there have been any breaches of health and safety law.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe are in regular contact with George\u2019s family and our thoughts remain with them at this time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Gilbey, who appeared on <\/span><i><span>Gogglebox<\/span><\/i><span> and <\/span><i><span>Celebrity Big Brother<\/span><\/i><span>, had been working as an electrician on a warehouse project at the time of the tragedy.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/health-and-safety\/hse-investigating-fatal-roof-fall-of-gogglebox-star-george-gilbey-14-08-2025\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Nicola Harley<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The investigation into the death of George Gilbey, who fell from a roof he was working on last year, is now being led by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
