After a bad fracture in my elbow, I was not able to play baseball because I could not throw a baseball. My parents let me play football after that and I’ve been playing ever since.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

I have two favorite memories from football. The first one was winning the national championship in JUCO in 2021 while I was at NMMI. The next one would be a 75 yard pick six while I was in high school. I still don’t know how I made that play.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

I am excited to play this season with my teammates. The cohesiveness we have amongst the team makes all of us really excited to play with and for each other this season.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

Rob Gronkowski. He looks like he is a lot of fun to be around and he is one of, if not the greatest tight end of all time.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Incarnate Word?

The relationships I have with my coaches and my teammates. Everyone in that building has love for each other unlike anything I have ever seen. Choosing to play at UIW was the best decision I’ve ever made.

What should we know about Logan Compton the person?

I am an outgoing and goofy guy. I try to put a smile on everyone’s face every day. You never know what someone is going through, but you might be able to make their day better without even knowing it. I am a little bit of a nerd too. Numbers are my thing.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

I like to be apart of the best schemes that help my team win. In our offense, we use the tight ends all over the field because they want us to be able to block, perimeter block, run efficient routes, and make plays with the ball in our hands. You can run an entire offense if you have a tight end that is good in all aspects of the game.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I have been through a lot in my life at a young age which has helped me today. When something happens on the field that does not go my way, I focus on the next play. You can’t control what just happened any longer, but you can control how to react to it. In life, I have a similar mindset. It ultimately comes down to controlling what you can control and not stressing out about the things you can’t control.

What would a team get in a player like you?

I am a high effort guy. You will never question whether I am giving it my all. I also have good football IQ. I understand the game and how it’s supposed to be played. I learn plays easily and I can read the defense pretty consistently.

What stands out about your film the most?

I am a complete tight end. I am a physical and aggressive blocker. I can run clean routes, get separation, and make plays with the ball in my hands. I feel like complete tight ends are harder to find nowadays.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Jaylin Smith. He was one of our outside receivers while I was in JUCO. That kid caught every ball that was thrown his way. The most impressive thing about him was his contested catches and high pointing the football. He would catch a ball on someone’s head every game. He would make these catches against highly rated corners as well. He is a beast.

Writer/Scout/Interviewer for Draft Diamonds since January 2020.
