The move is part of the kingdom\u2019s big plans to become a global leader in AI and invest heavily in future technologies.<\/p>\n
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) said in a statement its chairman, de facto ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, launched HUMAIN to \u201coperate and invest across the artificial intelligence (AI) value chain\u201d.<\/p>\n
The announcement comes on the eve of Trump\u2019s arrival on the first stop of a Gulf tour during which artificial intelligence is expected to play a central role at a joint Saudi-US investment forum in Riyadh.<\/p>\n
The PIF statement said the new company would provide a wide range of AI services, products and tools.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe company will also offer one of the world\u2019s most powerful multimodal Arabic large language models (LLMs),\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
The Gulf powerhouse is positioning itself as a global hub for AI, a market currently dominated by the United States.<\/p>\n
The technology is a priority in Saudi Arabia\u2019s ambitious \u201cVision 2030\u201d reform plan aimed at diversifying the economy of the world\u2019s largest oil exporter for a potential future without oil.<\/p>\n
Chief among an array of flashy projects are NEOM \u2014 a $500-billion futuristic new city in the desert \u2014 as well as the 2034 football World Cup and a major new airport for Riyadh.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
