It also said that the corporation needed to be able to hire part-time employees to deliver parcels on the weekend and assist with volumes during the week.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Government of Canada can decide to subsidize Canada Post\u2019s growing deficits indefinitely. Or necessary changes can be made to modernize the way Canada Post goes about its business,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>The report also stated a number of reasons behind Canada Post\u2019s downfall. Canada Post will work to minimize service disruptions, but customers may experience delays.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>In case of a national \u201clabour disruption\u201d though, mail and parcels will not be delivered and no new items will be accepted until the \u201cdisruption\u201d is over, the postal service said.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>Even if workers do go on strike, the union and the corporation have agreed to continue the delivery of socio-economic cheques, which are the payments made by the government to select groups and individuals.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe agreement ensures government financial assistance delivered by mail will reach seniors and other Canadians who rely on it,\u201d Canada Post said.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p><h2><strong>What does a new strike mean for businesses?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p data-async>More than three-quarters of small business owners rely on Canada Post.
