US President Donald Trump escalated his feud with California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday (June 9), suggesting that Newsom should be arrested after publicly daring Border Czar, Tom Homan, to do so.<\/p>\n

“I would do it if I were Tom”<\/h2>\n

Speaking briefly to reporters after landing at the White House, Trump responded to Newsom\u2019s defiant remarks made during a TV interview. \u201cI would do it if I were Tom,\u201d Trump said, referring to Homan<\/a>. \u201cI like Gavin Newsom\u2026 he\u2019s a nice guy, but he\u2019s grossly incompetent.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe very incompetent \u2018Governor,\u2019 Gavin Newscum, and \u2018Mayor,\u2019 Karen Bass, should be saying, \u2018THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL. WE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU, SIR,\u2019\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n

Protests escalated across Los Angeles and San Francisco over the weekend after President Donald Trump deployed National Guard troops<\/a> without California Governor Gavin Newsom\u2019s request \u2014 a rare move that ignited political tensions and street chaos.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Around 300 National Guard troops were sent to Los Angeles to protect federal buildings. Trump defended the move, saying, \u201cWe\u2019re gonna have troops everywhere.\u201d On Truth Social, he added, \u201cLooking really bad in L.A. BRING IN THE TROOPS!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

California leaders slammed the deployment. \u201cThis is a serious breach of state sovereignty,\u201d said Governor Newsom. LA Mayor Karen Bass accused Trump of pursuing \u201canother agenda \u2014 this isn\u2019t about public safety.\u201d<\/p>\n

Protesters shut down the 101 Freeway, set Waymo cars on fire<\/a>, and clashed with law enforcement. Police used tear gas and rubber bullets. \u201cWe were not notified in advance of the raids,\u201d said LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell, who confirmed arrests and violent flare-ups.<\/p>\n
