{"id":854088,"date":"2025-06-07T22:13:22","date_gmt":"2025-06-08T03:13:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/07\/pictorial-uk-records-first-baby-born-after-womb-transplant\/"},"modified":"2025-06-07T22:13:22","modified_gmt":"2025-06-08T03:13:22","slug":"pictorial-uk-records-first-baby-born-after-womb-transplant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/07\/pictorial-uk-records-first-baby-born-after-womb-transplant\/","title":{"rendered":"PICTORIAL: UK records first baby born after womb transplant"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure>\n                                        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.punchng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/08161231\/97002593-14579601-Grace_Davidson_36_who_was_born_without_a_womb_and_husband_Angus_-a-24_1744031297214.avif\" alt=\"Grace with baby Amy and husband Angus and, right, her sister Amy, who donated her womb\" srcset loading=\"lazy\" ><\/p>\n<p>Grace with baby Amy and husband Angus and, right, her sister Amy, who donated her womb [Credit: Womb Transplant UK]\n<\/p>\n<\/figure><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A British woman has given birth to a healthy baby girl after having her sister\u2019s womb transplanted into her, becoming UK\u2019s first that could benefit thousands more women, Daily Mail reports.\n<\/p>\n<p>Grace Davidson, 36, who was reportedly born without a womb, and husband Angus, 37, have described welcoming their girl child, Amy Isabel, into the world on the February 27 as \u201cthe greatest gift we could ever have asked for.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Grace was said to have discovered that she had Mayer-Rokitansky-K\u00fcster-Hauser Syndrome at the at of 19.\n<\/p>\n<p>The syndrome is a condition of the reproductive system which means women are born with no womb or an under developed womb.<\/p>\n<p><amp-video-iframe src=\"https:\/\/360playvid.info\/slidepleer\/videoIframe.html?fn=s1184s\" width=\"16\" height=\"9\" layout=\"responsive\" dock=\"#pv-dock-slot\"> <\/amp-video-iframe><\/p>\n<p>A team of 20 doctors and nurses were said to be on hand for the caesarean section birth at Queen Charlotte\u2019s and Chelsea Hospital in London, in case of complications, but Amy was born healthy weighing 2.06kg (4.5 pounds) and needed no specialist care.\n<\/p>\n<p>Amy\u2019s entrance into the world, on February 27, came three weeks earlier than planned as Grace\u2019s cervix started to shorten \u2013 a possible sign that labour was imminent.\n<\/p>\n<p>Her medical team decided to proceed with an \u2018abundance of caution\u2019, as they wanted to reduce strain on the transplanted womb with a caesarean delivery before Grace went into labour.<\/p>\n<p>Grace, a dietitian from north London, described holding her baby for the first time as \u201cbeyond amazing.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was without any doubt, the best day of our lives. Full of joy, so much happiness and tears.
