The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation after a site worker suffered injuries after being \u201ccrushed\u201d at a construction site in York.<\/p>\n

Ambulance crews were called to the incident which happened at 8.37am on Thursday 29th May in Copmanthorpe, at the site of a new housing development.<\/p>\n

Miller Homes is building 140 homes, called Knights Manor, at the site on Tadcaster Road.<\/p>\n

At the time of the incident, subcontractor Norcon was carrying out groundworks and reported the incident to the HSE.<\/p>\n

Yorkshire Air Ambulance was initially called to the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Nostell-based crew and aircraft G-YAAA were called to a patient who had been crushed in Copmanthorpe. The crew provided support on scene,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said a number of crews attended the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmbulance resources, including an air ambulance, responded to an incident at a construction site in Copmanthorpe,\u201d a spokesperson told Construction News<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne patient was conveyed to hospital by road ambulance.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is understood the person suffered a broken pelvis and lacerations to their legs.<\/p>\n

The HSE told CN<\/em>: \u201cWe have started making enquiries and will be investigating.\u201d<\/p>\n

North Yorkshire Police told CN <\/em>they attended the scene, but said it \u201cwill be an HSE-led incident\u201d.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Miller Homes said: \u201cWe can confirm that an individual, working for a contractor on a site owned by Miller Homes, was involved in an accident.<\/p>\n

“Our primary concern is for the welfare of the individual. The contractor has reported the incident to the Health and Safety Executive, and we are supporting the contractor in the investigation \u201c<\/p>\n

Norcon has been contacted for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
