{"id":852102,"date":"2025-05-29T22:12:53","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T03:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/29\/ndlea-arrests-lekki-restaurant-owner-over-u-s-nigeria-drug-trafficking-operation\/"},"modified":"2025-05-29T22:12:53","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T03:12:53","slug":"ndlea-arrests-lekki-restaurant-owner-over-u-s-nigeria-drug-trafficking-operation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/29\/ndlea-arrests-lekki-restaurant-owner-over-u-s-nigeria-drug-trafficking-operation\/","title":{"rendered":"NDLEA Arrests Lekki Restaurant Owner Over U.S.-Nigeria Drug Trafficking Operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended Arokodare Damil Ebenezer, the owner of Damillionz Takeout and a businessman based in Lekki, Lagos, for his alleged involvement in the importation of 60 parcels of Loud, a potent cannabis strain, from the United States to Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The 43-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Bay Lounge on Admiralty Way, Lekki, where he reportedly conducted his drug-related activities. His arrest occurred as he awaited the delivery of his most recent shipment of narcotics.<\/p>\n<p>According to Femi Babafemi, NDLEA\u2019s Director of Media &#038; Advocacy, the arrest stemmed from the interception of a cargo containing seven large cartons, which arrived in Lagos on March 12. This consignment was seized by NDLEA operatives from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation at a logistics company.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said, \u201cAfter his arrest, he was taken to his Lekki home for a search during which 94 grams of the same psychoactive substance, cannabis crusher and other drug paraphernalia were recovered. This brings the total weight of the drug seized from him to 32.24 kilograms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Babafemi said Ebenezer, in his statement, claimed he started the illicit drug business in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding another arrested suspect, Babafemi said, \u201cAttempt by another businessman Omoruyi Terry to export 1,400 pills of tramadol 225mg weighing 800 grammes to Italy has also been thwarted by NDLEA officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos. Omoruyi was intercepted at the screening point of terminal 2 of the Lagos airport on his way to Italy via a Qatar Airways flight. \u201cInvestigation reveals the suspect is an Italy-based frequent traveller and logistics agent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Katsina, four suspects: Baraka Abubakar, 40; Haruna Alitine, 23; Muhammad Babangida, 20; and Hamisu Lawal, were arrested on Friday, 28th March during an intelligence-led raid operation at Godai village in Daura LGA where 684 blocks of compressed skunk, a strain of cannabis weighing 423kg and 86,000 pills of diazepam were recovered from them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement revealed that three male suspects were detained while repackaging diazepam tablets into different containers, and a female suspect, Baraka, was arrested after heaps of skunk were found in her residence.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the statement noted that NDLEA operatives destroyed no fewer than 13,198 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa in various Edo State forests between Monday, March 24, and Friday, March 28th.<\/p>\n<p>During the operation, 158 kilogrammes of the same substance were also seized for potential prosecution. The affected areas, where four cannabis plantations were identified and eliminated, include Uhen Forest in Ovia North East LGA, Sobe in Owan West LGA, and Amahor Forest in Igueben LGA.<\/p>\n<p>It said, \u201cIn Niger state, NDLEA officers on patrol along Mokwa-Jebba road on Friday 28th March intercepted a black Toyota Corolla car marked SLM 137 SV and arrested the two occupants in possession of 179 blocks of compressed skunk with a total weight of 77.6kg concealed in false bottom of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two suspects are: Paul Christopher, 46, and Lucky Star Anumie.
