{"id":847939,"date":"2025-05-13T09:11:41","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T14:11:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/13\/charges-brought-over-2018-bethnal-green-death\/"},"modified":"2025-05-13T09:11:41","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T14:11:41","slug":"charges-brought-over-2018-bethnal-green-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/13\/charges-brought-over-2018-bethnal-green-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Charges brought over 2018 Bethnal Green death \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img width=\"620\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ca.emap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/05\/ED-ONLY_Metropolitan-police_shutterstock_2427402975.webp\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  alt=\"ED-ONLY_Metropolitan-police_shutterstock_2427402975.webp\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Four <span data-teams=\"true\">construction workers <\/span> and Higgins Homes have been charged by Metropolitan Police detectives over the death of a woman in Bethnal Green seven years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Michaela Boor, 28, was struck by a pallet containing more than two tonnes of bricks that fell from a tower crane on a Higgins Homes building development in St Paul\u2019s Way.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred at about 9am on 27 March 2018, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement today (12 May).<\/p>\n<p>The victim died in hospital the following day.<\/p>\n<p>The Metropolitan Police said it brought the charges following a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive.<\/p>\n<p>Higgins Homes plc was charged on 7 May with corporate manslaughter and offences under Section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Metropolitan Police statement said.<\/p>\n<p>It added that four men had also been charged by postal requisition with gross negligence manslaughter and offences under Section 7 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander McInnes, 32,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of Islington, north London, who the Metropolitan Police said was a crane operator on the day of Boor\u2019s death, was charged on 8 May.<\/p>\n<p>Dawood Maan, 59, of Ashford, \u00a0Kent, a crane supervisor, was charged on 30 April.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Coulson, 68, of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, who was responsible for compiling the lifting plan for the site, was also charged on 30 April, the Metropolitan Police added.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Anstis, 68, of Banstead, Surrey, who was the site manager and temporary works coordinator, was charged on 8 May.<\/p>\n<p>All four men are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court on 16 June, the Metropolitan Police said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpecialist officers continue to support Michaela\u2019s family,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/legal\/charges-brought-over-2018-bethnal-green-death-12-05-2025\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Ben Vogel<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Four construction workers and Higgins Homes have been charged by Metropolitan Police detectives over the death of a woman in Bethnal Green seven years ago.
