Last week, we had the privilege of watching the final match between Canada and the United States at the Four Nations Confrontation. It was a big game in terms of sports, but also due to the current political context.<\/p>\n

And that evening, Wayne Gretzky was the honorary captain for Canada\u2026 which did not exactly receive unanimous approval due to his ties with Donald Trump, who would like to see him become the governor of a potential 51st state.<\/p>\n

We also remember that before the game, he gave a \u201cthumbs up\u201d to the American team, but not to the Canadian team. That also sparked a reaction.<\/p>\n

So, for a week now, Gretzky has been the target of a ton of negative comments in the country\u2026 and according to his wife Janet\u2019s words, it\u2019s affecting the Great One:<\/p>\n

It was through her Instagram account that Janet Gretzky, in response to Bobby Orr\u2019s comments (who also thinks #99 is too criticized), defended her husband. According to her, no one is more proud to be Canadian than Gretzky, and she claims that he would do anything to make Canadians proud.<\/p>\n

But visibly, it doesn\u2019t seem to be a huge success since last week.<\/p>\n

We also recall that last night, Donald Trump defended Gretzky via his TruthSocial account\u2026 reminding everyone that Gretzky is his friend, which explains why he\u2019s staying quiet about the 51st state issue.<\/p>\n

I imagine that will calm things down.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll see how it all evolves, but #99 seems to be well aware of the comments he\u2019s received over the past week. And visibly, he seems to be quite affected by them.<\/p>\n
