University of Cincinnati Mourns the Loss of Freshman Football Player Jeremiah Kelly<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

The University of Cincinnati<\/a> Department of Athletics released a statement today, to share the news of the unexpected passing of freshman football student-athlete\u00a0Jeremiah Kelly, who passed away early Tuesday morning at his residence.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cOur Bearcats football family is devastated by the sudden loss of such an incredible young man,\u201d said Head Coach\u00a0Scott Satterfield. \u201cIn the short time Jeremiah was with us, he left a meaningful impression\u2014his talent, work ethic, and presence in the locker room will not be forgotten. We are holding the Kelly family in our hearts and prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A proud native of\u00a0Avon, Ohio, Jeremiah was a standout at\u00a0Avon High School, where he played a key role in leading the Eagles to a perfect\u00a016-0 season\u00a0and the school\u2019s\u00a0first-ever state championship in 2024. As a senior, he earned\u00a0First-Team All-Conference\u00a0and\u00a0All-District\u00a0honors, and was named the\u00a0Southwestern Conference Lineman of the Year.\u00a0The Plain Dealer<\/em>\u00a0also recognized him among\u00a0Northeast Ohio\u2019s Top 25 football prospects.<\/p>\n

Jeremiah enrolled early at UC and had been practicing with the team during the spring semester.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a heartbreaking day for our UC community,\u201d said\u00a0Director of Athletics John Cunningham. \u201cWe extend our deepest condolences to the Kelly family. Jeremiah\u2019s spirit and potential touched everyone around him, and we will surround his teammates, coaches, and loved ones with support as we navigate this profound loss together.\u201d<\/p>\n
