Entertainment Certain Drake disses were omitted from Kendrick Lamar\u2019s track \u201cEuphoria,\u201d Top Dawg President Terrence \u201cPunch\u201d Henderson reveals.<\/h2>\n
In an in-depth, three-hour-plus interview<\/a> with Curtiss King, Top Dawg Entertainment President Terrence \u201cPunch\u201d Henderson confirmed that Kendrick Lamar\u2019s song \u201cEuphoria\u201d initially contained more jabs at his nemesis, Drake. The seemingly more damaging version of the song, which was released in response to Drake\u2019s \u201cPush Ups,\u201d ended up more concise per Punch\u2019s advice.<\/p>\n The news comes on the heels of rumors that a nearly 20-minute version of the song exists. \u201cI don\u2019t know the length, but there was definitely a version that was longer than what the world got,\u201d said Punch. \u201cThere was a lot of stuff that didn\u2019t make it on there.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere was just some things in there that I didn\u2019t think would have been beneficial in the long run to put in there,\u201d he added. \u201cSo I gave him my input on that and he took some of those things out.\u201d<\/p>\n Punch also provided some other insight into Ken\u2019s ongoing feud with Drake<\/a>, such as the former\u2019s numerous Easter eggs throughout their battle. He also mentioned some areas where he thinks Drake went wrong.<\/p>\n \u201cI read [\u2018Taylor Made Freestyle\u2019] as [Drake\u2019s] first mistake,\u201d said Punch. \u201cTo me, it felt like a mockery of the West Coast. So when you do that, you\u2019re gonna unite it. If there was any type of division at that time, once you do that, you\u2019re gonna get all the people together.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy first response [to Drake\u2019s \u2018Push Ups\u2019] was, \u2018It\u2019s not enough,\u2019\u201d he explained. \u201cIt was cool; it was cute. I see where you\u2019re going, but those angles are not gonna be enough. It\u2019s as simple as that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201c[The feud] had been bubbling for a while. We had been pretty close-mouthed about it,\u201d Punch said of the lead up into Kendrick\u2019s track \u201cLike That.\u201d \u201cHe played the record for Top [Dawg]. [\u2026] He told me a little bit about the record, so I hit [Lamar] like, \u2018It\u2019s going down?\u2019 He said, \u2018Yeah, we\u2019ll see what\u2019s up,\u2019 laughing.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cPeople think that this [feud] is so serious, but it\u2019s funny,\u201d explained Punch. \u201cThis n\u2014a is from Compton, California, bro. Where he grew up, it\u2019s serious over there \u2014 you getting shot at, you getting home invasions, you getting gang wars. We\u2019re talking about music, bruh, so it\u2019s funny!\u201d<\/p>\n Drake recently amended his defamation lawsuit<\/a> against Universal Music Group (UMG) related to Kendrick\u2019s award-winning Drake diss track, \u201cNot Like Us.\u201d Previously, Drake was given until April 16 to respond to UMG\u2019s motion for dismissal or file an amended lawsuit. The amended filing is 23 pages longer than the original.<\/p>\nHe continued, \u201cI had the same thought with \u2018Family Matters\u2019 that I did with \u2018Push Ups,\u2019 and that was: It\u2019s not enough! I think another mistake that they made was giving the idea that they was finna push this red button. When you do that, you build the anticipation a bit too high, so now people have expectations.\u201d<\/h4>\n
