Former Barcelona right-back Samuel Okunowo has advised Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel to seek a fresh challenge away from Fenerbah\u00e7e, Soccernet.ng<\/a> reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former Queens Park Rangers has been linked with a move away from the \u015e\u00fckr\u00fc Saraco\u011flu Stadium following the imminent expiration of his contract.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the market, Osayi-Samuel, who has been a standout performer for Fenerbah\u00e7e since joining in 2021.<\/p>\n

Since 2024, Osayi has attracted interest from clubs such as Crystal Palace, AFC Bournemouth, Brentford, and per transfer gossip, most recently, Turkish giants Galatasaray.<\/p>\n

However, Okunowo believes Nigeria has outgrown the Turkish Super Lig and should now target a more competitive environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my opinion, he has surpassed the level of the Turkish league,\u201d Okunowo told Africa Foot<\/a>. \u201cI think there are many opportunities he could explore, and in my opinion, this is where he should focus his efforts.<\/p>\n

With all due respect to Fenerbah\u00e7e, which is currently led by a world-class coach like Jos\u00e9 Mourinho, I believe he has already given a lot to the club and it is time for him to move on. Moving to Galatasaray, a rival club in the same league, could even tarnish his legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Okunowo, who played for Barcelona in the late 1990s, also stressed that Osayi-Samuel\u2019s playing style is well-suited for clubs in England, Spain, or Italy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m convinced that several Premier League clubs, but also those in Spain and Italy, could benefit from his qualities. He\u2019s a solid defender, capable of contributing offensively. And that works in his favour: his contract is out. But, ultimately, the decision is his.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Super Eagles star has yet to publicly comment on his next move, but with his contract reportedly running down, a summer exit from Fenerbah\u00e7e appears likely.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
