Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike has vowed to oppose former Vice President Atiku Abubakar\u2019s bid for the 2027 presidency.<\/h2>\n

Atiku, in a recent interview with Adesina Giwa-Osagie<\/a>, stated that he had \u201cno regrets\u201d about overlooking Wike when selecting a vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 election.<\/p>\n

The rift between the two dates back to the contentious 2022 PDP primaries.<\/p>\n

Wike had hoped to be selected as Atiku\u2019s running mate, but the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate instead chose Ifeanyi Okowa, the former Governor of Delta State.<\/p>\n

Explaining his decision, Atiku said he wanted the party to be involved in the selection process, unlike in 2019 when he personally picked Peter Obi.<\/p>\n

He asked the PDP to form a committee, which recommended three candidates. Okowa was ranked first, Wike second, and former Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel third.<\/p>\n

\u201cI chose the number one candidate,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> Atiku said, noting that he had no regrets about not picking Wike as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo years after making the @OfficialPDPNig lose a presidential election it could have won, @atiku is giving reasons he did not pick @GovWike as his running mate and that he has no regrets.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone should tell our serial presidential election contester that Wike also has no regret for ensuring that he failed in the election and will make sure that he fails again and again,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> Olayinka wrote.<\/p>\n
