A viral video shared on TikTok<\/a> claims Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi\u2019s vineyard purportedly received $14 million from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).<\/p>\n

The claim is false and originally stems from a Feb. 23 post shared by \u201cAmerica\u2019s Last Line of Defense,\u201d which is a satirical Facebook page.<\/p>\n

Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Saikat Chakrabarti, former chief of staff for New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, announced he would challenge Pelosi for her House seat back in February, according to Politico<\/a>. Chakrabarti, 39, also previously worked for Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

The TikTok video, which has received nearly 14,000 likes as of writing, claims Pelosi\u2019s vineyard purportedly received $14 million from the USAID.<\/p>\n

\u201cNancy Pelosi\u2019s vineyard received $14 million in USAID funding,\u201d text superimposed on the video reads. \u201cIn case you were wondering why she\u2019s opposed to Congressional auditing,\u201d a second set of text follows.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are in government, you have no business collecting government money for private ventures,\u201d the video\u2019s caption adds.<\/p>\n

The claim is false and originally stems from a Feb. 23 post<\/a> shared by \u201cAmerica\u2019s Last Line of Defense,\u201d which is a satirical Facebook page. The Facebook page describes<\/a> itself as \u201cthe flagship of the ALLOD network of trollery and propaganda for cash\u201d before reiterating that \u201cnothing on this page is real.\u201d<\/p>\n

Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find a press release<\/a> on Pelosi\u2019s website or a statement shared via her verified social<\/a> media<\/a>\u00a0accounts<\/a> responding to the claim. The USAID\u2019s website<\/a> has been down since Feb. 23, when many direct hire personnel were put on administrative leave globally, and the agency\u2019s LinkedIn page<\/a> does not appear to reference the claim. President Donald Trump does not<\/a> appear to<\/a>\u00a0have commented<\/a> on the claim, either.<\/p>\n

In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports<\/a> to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On March 7, PolitiFact<\/a> debunked the claim, tracing its origin to the same satirical Facebook page. Snopes<\/a> also debunked the claim.<\/p>\n

There is a vineyard associated with Pelosi\u2019s estate on Zinfandel Lane in California, according to a November 2015 article<\/a> from the Los Angeles Times. The outlet indicated that Pelosi and her husband, Paul Pelosi, made \u201cbetween $5,001 and $15,000 in income from the sale of grapes grown at the vineyard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pelosi\u2019s 2024 financial disclosure form<\/a> filed with the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives shows she made between $100,001 and $1,000,000 in grape sales at the same vineyard. A Pelosi spokesperson directed Check Your Fact to Snopes\u2019 debunk when asked to comment on the claim.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
