To respond, some health providers are scrambling to give their staff <a href=\"https:\/\/kffhealthnews.org\/news\/article\/california-health-clinics-immigration-raids-trump-constitutional-rights\/\">legal training<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marylandattorneygeneral.gov\/News%20Documents\/012825_25_Healthcare_Guidance.pdf\">memo to health care providers<\/a>, Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown advises health workers that they need not record a patient\u2019s immigration status unless it relates to insurance coverage and that they should ask for credentials if someone claiming to be an ICE official shows up. He also said providers should not interfere with an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>KFF Health News reporting fellow Jackie Forti\u00e9r appeared on WAMU\u2019s \u201cHealth Hub\u201d on March 19.
