Melinda Gates\u00a0has responded to her ex-husband\u00a0Bill Gates\u2019s comments about their divorce.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the Microsoft founder named his divorce from\u00a0Melinda after 27 years as \u201cthe mistake he most regrets.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

In an interview with\u00a0Elle\u00a0for its 2025 Women of Impact issue published on Monday, Melinda was asked about her ex-husband\u2019s remarks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve clearly Googled more than I have,\u201d Melinda\u00a0told\u00a0Elle\u2019s\u00a02025 Women of Impact issue in an interview published March 17.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The publication noted that she rolled her eyes at the question and added, \u201cLook, divorces are painful, and it\u2019s not something I would wish on any family.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The philanthropist\u2014who shares kids\u00a0Jennifer Gates Nassar, 28,\u00a0Rory Gates, 25, and\u00a0Phoebe Gates,\u00a022, with the Microsoft cofounder\u2014added that leaving her marriage was one of the most difficult, but important things that she\u2019s done in her life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During his interview with\u00a0The Times\u00a0earlier this year, Bill said that the \u201ctop of the list\u201d in terms of his biggest mistakes was his divorce. \u201cThere are others, but none that matter,\u201d he said. \u201cThe divorce thing was miserable for me and Melinda for at least two years.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Still, Bill said that he and his ex have stayed on good terms, and \u201csee each other\u201d often.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have three kids and two grandchildren so there are family events. The kids are doing well. They have good values,\u201d he explained. The couple tied the knot in 1994. Their three children are now adults: Jennifer, 28, Rory, 25, and Phoebe, 22.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t go into any details about what triggered the divorce in the interview, though he admitted in 2021 that he\u00a0had an affair with an employee\u00a0during the marriage.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
