Brian May has opened up on his recent health scare, which briefly left him fearing he\u2019d be unable to play the guitar again.<\/p>\n

In September last year<\/a>, the Queen electric guitar<\/a> hero revealed he was recovering after suffering a \u201cminor stroke\u201d, and at the time said there was some concern over whether he\u2019d be able to pick up the Red Special again after he lost control of one of his arms.<\/p>\n

In the new issue of Guitarist<\/em>, May issued an update on his health, and said he was \u201call right now\u201d, even if he did have those initial fears.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt went through my mind,\u201d May responds, when asked if he thought he might never play the guitar again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I suddenly couldn\u2019t control this left arm, it was quite scary,\u201d he continues. \u201cI had no idea what was going on. I phoned my doctor and she said, \u2018Okay, I think you\u2019re having a minor stroke. Dial 999, get in the ambulance and I\u2019ll see you there.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

However, while the thought of a future without guitar playing momentarily played on his mind, May was never really in any doubt he\u2019d pick up his six-string again as he could still move his digits.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven at the worst time, although I couldn\u2019t control where the arm was, I could control my fingers.\u201d explains May. \u201cSo I thought, \u2018I\u2019m probably not really in danger.\u2019 I\u2019m all right now. I\u2019m just taking it slow.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is, of course, a positive update. Although May did his best to allay fan fears at the time, hearing the guitar virtuoso admit he\u2019d lost control of his arm was still alarming.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m here to bring you some good news: the good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days,\u201d he said in the clip last September.<\/p>\n

\u201cI say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago, and what they called it was a ‘minor stroke.’<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of a sudden out of the blue I didn\u2019t have any control of this arm, so it\u2019s a little scary. I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in his Guitarist<\/em> interview, May recalls the one time he experimented with a Marshall stack<\/a> \u2013 which he says \u201csounded awful\u201d, only for one Jimi Hendrix to step after him…<\/p>\n
