As YouTube\u2019s role in podcasting increases<\/a>, Pocket Casts announced today<\/a> that its web, Mac, and Windows apps are now free with a subscription no longer required.<\/p>\n

The Automattic-owned Pocket Casts has long offered web and desktop clients, but this previously required a \u201cPlus\u201d ($3.99 per month\/$39.99 annual) or \u201cPatron\u201d ($9.99 per month\/$99.99 annual) subscription to access.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As of today, the \u201cPocket Casts Web Player is now accessible to all, no subscription required\u201d: play.pocketcasts.com<\/a>. It follows Apple Podcasts <\/a>launching a web app last August.<\/p>\n

These changes also apply to our\u00a0Mac<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Windows<\/a>\u00a0Desktop Apps, giving you more ways to listen on your terms.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Mac and Windows apps were redesigned in June<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, you can be signed out and use the apps to browse\/play. Making an account will allow: Syncing playback progress across devices, Managing your podcast queue seamlessly, and Saving subscriptions and preferences.\u00a0<\/p>\n
