(Canadian Chamber of Commerce)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">B.C. cities, in general, would be among the least vulnerable in Canada if U.S. President Donald Trump follows through on tariff threats, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/businessdatalab.ca\/publications\/which-canadian-cities-are-most-exposed-to-trumps-tariffs\/?utm_content=324467757&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=linkedin&#038;hss_channel=lcp-5158331\" target=\"_blank\">new data<\/a>\u00a0from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">That isn&#8217;t to say that British Columbia wouldn&#8217;t suffer:\u00a0the chamber&#8217;s chief economist, Stephen Tapp, says those tariffs would be recessionary for the whole country.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;I don&#8217;t think anybody&#8217;s really fully insulated from Trump&#8217;s tariff threats,&#8221; he told CBC&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Daybreak Kamloops<\/em>\u00a0guest host Doug Herbert. &#8220;But I think that the B.C. economies in our numbers come out a lot less exposed than some of the other places in the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>The chamber&#8217;s Business Data Lab looked at Statistics Canada information from 41 cities across Canada with populations of more than 100,000 people. This means the data is lacking when it comes to rural Canadians, who also have a vested interest in Canada&#8217;s trade relationship with the United States.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> From there, they assess how much each city exports to the U.S.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kamloops, located 253 kilometres northeast of Vancouver, ranked 40th out of 41 cities and\u00a0would be the second-most resilient in the event the U.S. does impose tariffs on Canadian goods, according to the chamber&#8217;s calculations. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/british-columbia\/bc-tariff-threat-vulnerability-1.7463017\">Read more<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Health Canada is again warning people to stop using unauthorized sexual enhancement products<\/h2>\n<div>\n<figure>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Close-up of man holding yellow pill.\"   src=\"https:\/\/i.cbc.ca\/1.7463689.1740060961!\/fileImage\/httpImage\/image.jpg_gen\/derivatives\/original_1180\/supplements.jpg?im=\" data-cy=\"image-img\"><\/p><figcaption>People should be wary of using unauthorized sexual enhancement products, says Health Canada. (Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Health Canada is warning people\u00a0that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/recalls-rappels.canada.ca\/en\/alert-recall\/unauthorized-sexual-enhancement-products-may-pose-serious-health-risks#wb-auto-2\">unauthorized sexual enhancement products<\/a>\u00a0sold in at least three provinces may pose serious health risks.<\/p>\n<p>In a public advisory published on Wednesday, the agency told people to stop using the 372 different products they&#8217;d identified \u2014 with names like Spanish Fly 22,000, Rhino 69\u00a0and Magnum Gold\u00a0\u00a0\u2014 and consult a health-care professional if they have any concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Health Canada\u00a0says it has seized the products from stores in New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario because they\u00a0have been found to contain &#8220;dangerous ingredients.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;Unauthorized health products have not been approved by Health Canada, which means that they have not been assessed for safety, effectiveness and quality,&#8221; the agency said.<\/p>\n<p> Last year, Health Canada issued four other warnings about sexual enhancement products, including\u00a0counterfeit erectile dysfunction drugs\u00a0seized at Toronto convenience stores. In a similar\u00a0warning last\u00a0May,\u00a0Health Canada identified 421 unauthorized sexual enhancement products sold mostly in Ontario, but also in Quebec, Alberta and B.C.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/health\/health-canada-warning-sexual-enhancement-1.7463685\">Read more<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Regulation would encourage AI innovation, U of Ottawa prof argues after Paris summit<\/h2>\n<div>\n<figure>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Four people sit at a table behind microphones. (Margaux Debosque Trubert)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Regulation of artificial intelligence\u00a0would encourage\u00a0\u2014\u00a0not stifle\u00a0\u2014\u00a0innovation,\u00a0says a University of Ottawa professor who presented\u00a0at last week&#8217;s\u00a0global AI summit.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Florian Martin-Bariteau, who\u00a0is also the university&#8217;s\u00a0chair of technology and society,\u00a0flew across the Atlantic to address world leaders in Paris\u00a0at\u00a0a summit meant to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/business\/paris-summit-artificial-intelligence-explainer-1.7456222\">set\u00a0a\u00a0global agenda<\/a>\u00a0for the rapidly developing technology.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Such international summits\u00a0have been held annually since 2023 and bring\u00a0together world leaders, researchers\u00a0and AI companies.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Not any kind of innovation is good for society,&#8221; Martin-Bariteau said in an interview with CBC&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Ottawa Morning<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Regulation is not always bad.
