{"id":835103,"date":"2025-03-19T08:12:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-19T13:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/19\/samourai-wallet-developers-appear-together-in-court-at-fourth-pre-trial-hearing\/"},"modified":"2025-03-19T08:12:00","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T13:12:00","slug":"samourai-wallet-developers-appear-together-in-court-at-fourth-pre-trial-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/19\/samourai-wallet-developers-appear-together-in-court-at-fourth-pre-trial-hearing\/","title":{"rendered":"Samourai Wallet Developers Appear Together In Court At Fourth Pre-Trial Hearing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Today, the fourth pre-trial hearing for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdny\/pr\/founders-and-ceo-cryptocurrency-mixing-service-arrested-and-charged-money-laundering\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United States\u2019 case against the Samourai Wallet developers<\/a> took place in the Southern District of New York.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>This is the second time that the two developers, Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, have appeared together in public since the <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/legal\/samourai-developers-appear-together-in-court-for-first-time-at-status-conference\">previous status conference<\/a>, which occurred on September 17, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s hearing was the shortest and least substantive of the four pre-trial hearings that have occurred thus far.<\/p>\n<h2>Pre-Trial Motion Schedule<\/h2>\n<p>At the hearing, the prosecution and the defense established and agreed upon the pre-trial motion schedule schedule, which is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>May 9, 2025<\/strong> \u2014 Opening motion<\/li>\n<li><strong>June 6, 2025<\/strong> \u2014 The prosecution\u2019s response to the opening motion<\/li>\n<li><strong>June 20, 2025<\/strong> \u2014 Replies to the prosecution\u2019s response<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Expert Disclosure<\/h2>\n<p>The prosecution is scheduled to provide its expert disclosure on July 15, 2025, while the defense is expected to provide it by August 8, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Further expert disclosure may also be permitted on July 16, 2025 at 10:00 AM EST, which is the date for the next in-person pre-trial hearing.<\/p>\n<h2>Hill To Remain In Lisbon<\/h2>\n<p>Hill\u2019s attorney asked Judge Richard Berman, who is presiding over the case, if the court would be amenable to the court not requiring Hill\u2019s appearance at future pre-trial hearings given that Hill is currently living with his wife in Lisbon, Portugal and traveling back and forth to New York City is expensive.<\/p>\n<p>His attorney also stated that pre-trial services were \u201csupportive\u201d of this request.<\/p>\n<p>The judge stated that he didn\u2019t see a problem with this.<\/p>\n<h2>Rodriguez Expresses Gratitude<\/h2>\n<p>After the hearing, Rodriguez told Bitcoin Magazine that he\u2018s grateful to all those who\u2019ve donated to the <a href=\"https:\/\/p2prights.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peer-to-Peer Rights Fund<\/a>, which helps to fund the developers\u2019 legal defense.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested can still donate to the fund.<\/p>\n<h2>Trial Start Date<\/h2>\n<p>The trial is slated to begin on November 3, 2025.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/samourai-wallet-developers-appear-together-in-court-at-fourth-pre-trial-hearing\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Frank Corva<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, the fourth pre-trial hearing for the United States\u2019 case against the Samourai Wallet developers took place in the Southern District of New York.
