Known as Horizon, it seeks to fill the gap between conventional and decentralized finance using tokenized real-world asset (RWA) products powered by the Aave platform. Aave Labs noted that tokenized RWAs improve an asset\u2019s liquidity and \u201cenables 24\/7 programmable transactions,\u201d making it easier for investors to conveniently open and close trades.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span>\u201cAn Aave-Licensed Instance for Institutions\u201d<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>In a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/governance.aave.com\/t\/temp-check-building-horizon-s-rwa-product-an-aave-licensed-instance-for-institutions\/21384\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>proposal<\/span><\/a><span>, Aave Labs described Horizon as \u201can Aave-licensed instance for institutions.\u201d It disclosed that the initiative will offer institutions products like tokenized money market funds and securities that can be used as collateral for loans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Aave Labs announces Project Horizon, a new initiative focused on building institutional DeFi products.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more:<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/IPruxFuvrH\">https:\/\/t.co\/IPruxFuvrH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Aave (@aave) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aave\/status\/1900188291418513783?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 13, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Horizon will implement a governed token transfer and allow participants to have asset-level controls. According to the proposal, Aave DAO will receive a 50% revenue share in the first year \u201calongside strategic incentives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The DAO will oversee the initiative\u2019s operations but Horizon will initially dictate how it responds to changing market conditions and caters to institutional needs. If the community supports the current proposal, it\u2019ll move to the stakeholders before being presented for final voting.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span>The Aave Community Isn\u2019t Excited<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>So far, the community isn\u2019t happy with some sections of the proposal. Most of them disagree with the proposition to launch a Horizon token saying it\u2019ll dilute the existing Aave token\u2019s value.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Others said that \u201cAave itself isn\u2019t fully empowered yet\u201d making a new token unnecessary. Some said that Horizon would \u201csignificantly harm the reputation of the brand within the crypto\u201d space.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Aave community suggested that the revenue share needs to be increased and all revenue deposited to the DAO.
