Duke is scheduled to play Louisville on Saturday night in the conference title game.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;As far as [Flagg] goes, he&#8217;s doing better,&#8221; Scheyer told reporters Friday (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/story\/_\/id\/44267050\/duke-star-cooper-flagg-available-next-week-ncaa-says\" target=\"_blank\">h\/t ESPN<\/a>). &#8220;Sprained ankle. All the imaging came back negative. He sprained it pretty good, though&#8230; He can&#8217;t play&#8230; we need to see how this weekend goes with the swelling and what he can do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Flagg is<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/insider\/story\/_\/id\/41662748\/2025-nba-draft-big-board-rankings-top-100-prospects-players\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0expected to be the No. 1 overall selection<\/a> at the 2025 NBA Draft, so updates on his health, naturally, are going to be highly scrutinized.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s established an impressive legacy for himself in the sport less than a year into his collegiate career.<\/p>\n<p>Flagg broke the ACC&#8217;s freshman game scoring record (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/news\/duke-cooper-flagg-scores-acc-freshman-record-42-points\" target=\"_blank\">42 points<\/a><span>) and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sports.betmgm.com\/en\/blog\/ncaab\/wooden-award-odds-to-win-college-basketball-best-players-bm06\/\" target=\"_blank\">is the favorite<\/a><span>\u00a0to win the John Wooden Award, given to the sport&#8217;s most outstanding player.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/accnetwork\/status\/1891671390815703436\" target=\"_blank\">He&#8217;s also the first ACC player in the past 25 years<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>to record at least 500 points, 100 assists and 30 blocks in a season.<\/p>\n<p>Averaging 18.9 points per game (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/player\/_\/id\/5041939\/cooper-flagg\" target=\"_blank\">48.8 field goal percentage<\/a>), 7.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game, Flagg is an indispensable asset in Duke&#8217;s offense.<\/p>\n<p>The team certainly felt his absence on Friday, nearly blowing a double-digit lead to in-state rival North Carolina in the final seconds of the ACC semifinal.
