but what is now happening with the deal remains unclear. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Speaking earlier to reporters as he sat down with Mr Zelensky in the Oval Office, Trump confirmed the minerals deal with Ukraine would be signed and he said &#8220;we have something that is a very fair deal&#8221;. &#8220;It is a big commitment from the US,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>After the meeting European leaders rallied around Mr Zelensky. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>French President Emmanuel Macron said he believes &#8220;we all were right to have helped Ukraine and sanctioned <a href=\"http:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/russia\">Russia<\/a> three years ago, and to continue to do so&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s an aggressor, which is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/russia\">Russia<\/a>, and a people attacked, which is Ukraine,&#8221; We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Friedrich Merz, whose Christian Democrat party won last week\u2019s German elections, said his nation would \u201cstand with Ukraine in good and in testing times \u2026 We must never confuse aggressor and victim in this terrible war.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Russia revelled in the row.
