Three games into their inaugural MLS season, San Diego FC<\/a> remain undefeated.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n The expansion side has Saturday\u2019s 3-1 win<\/a> at Real Salt Lake<\/a> to thank for that, rallying for all three points behind goals from Franco Negri<\/a>, Anders Dreyer<\/a> and Marcus Ingvartsen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n While it wasn\u2019t the prettiest performance, the result ensures they\u2019ll leave Matchday 3 in second place in the Western Conference table (seven points; 2W-0L-1D).<\/p>\n \u201cWhat we loved about it is, 1-1, I think a lot of teams could say, \u2018Okay, we’re satisfied with that,\u2019\u201d head coach Mikey Varas said post-game at America First Field.<\/p>\n \u201cBut we’ve talked about wanting to go after the game and continue to stay with an initiative. The boys showed that they wanted the 2-1, but they also showed they wanted a third. That\u2019s something that we’re trying to develop within the group. And they’re buying in, so that’s very good.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n San Diego\u2019s go-ahead strike came through Dreyer in the 91st minute, before Ingvartsen opened his MLS account in the 96th minute. Setting the stage, Negri powerfully headed home just before halftime.<\/p>\n Although SDFC conceded their first-ever goal, the newcomers didn\u2019t buckle in a tough environment.<\/p>\n \u201cYou have to have composure in those moments,\u201d Varas said. \u201cStick to our principles, stick to our style of play. Keep positive, keep believing, and then just chip away and grind away at it at the end of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n While goalscorers often get the headlines, Dreyer said goalkeeper CJ dos Santos<\/a> \u201cwas the hero for us today.\u201d The former US youth international made five saves, keeping the game within reach.<\/p>\n \u201cCJ was a monster tonight,\u201d said Varas. \u201c \u2026 The \u2018keeper was a fireman for us because he takes two or three big, big, big chances away from them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n \u2014 San Diego FC (@sandiegofc) March 9, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n San Diego also won without star forward Chucky Lozano<\/a>, who suffered a lower-leg injury<\/a> in last weekend\u2019s historic home opener at Snapdragon Stadium.
