poor attitude toward mental health"},"content":{"rendered":"<section>\n<section>\n<section>07 January 2025 at 16:08<\/section>\n<figure><img alt=\"Neuropsychiatrist decries Nigerians\u2019 poor attitude to mental health\" fetchpriority=\"high\" loading=\"eager\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\"   src=\"http:\/\/www.pulse.ng\/_next\/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fimage.api.sportal365.com%2Fprocess%2F%2Fsmp-images-production%2Fpulse.ng%2F07012025%2F213fd04d-3e18-4ad9-96cd-a08fda5fad7f.jpeg&#038;w=3840&#038;q=75\"><figcaption>Neuropsychiatrist decries Nigerians\u2019 poor attitude to mental health<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<section>\n<section>\n<section>\n<p>A Consultant Neuropsychiatrist<strong>, Dr Maymunah Kadiri<\/strong>, on Tuesday decried the poor attitude of the public toward their mental health, urging them to embrace regular mental health evaluation. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Kadiri, who is the Medical Director of Pinnacle Medical Services, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>She said that many Nigerians erroneously believe mental health evaluation was meant for mentally challenged persons and, as a result, pay little or no attention to their mental health. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Kadiri underscored the need for Nigerians to prioritise the habit of going for mental health evaluation services.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>According to her, every individual, irrespective of status, background, tribe or religion, is expected to access such services at least twice a year to ensure his or her mental well-being.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p><i>&#8220;Every human, irrespective of class, faces one societal ill or the other, stress and other current economic challenges that can affect the way they reason or interact.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p><i>\u201cSuch challenges are predisposing factors to depression, and anxiety and can lead to suicide if not properly checked.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cPeople should consider going for mental health evaluations regularly;
