The Super Eagles star also produced a brilliant defensive effort for the Cottagers as they were only breached once.<\/p>\n<p>However, after their win, Bassey was subject to a lot of racist slurs and discriminating comments from opposing fans on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Following this incident, Fulham shared a release on their social media condemning the fans\u2019 action. They also asserted their support for Bassey.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cFulham Football Club is utterly appalled at the racist and homophobic abuse received and subsequently shared by Calvin Bassey on social media after yesterday\u2019s FA Cup tie against Manchester United,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fulhamfc.com\/news\/2025\/march\/03\/club-statement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the club wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe strongly condemn this abhorrent behaviour which has no place in football or society. Such actions are entirely unacceptable, and we stand in full support of Calvin Bassey, who will continue to receive our full backing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will do everything in our power to work with the relevant authorities in identifying the perpetrators of these vile messages and taking the strongest form of action against them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFulham Football Club is committed to maintaining a firm stance against all forms of discrimination and remains dedicated to fostering an environment of respect and inclusion.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Soccer NFF follow suit, show support for Calvin Bassey<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_152271\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-152271\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/app\/uploads\/2025\/03\/imago1039274970-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Soccer Calvin Bassey for Nigeria (Photo credit: Imago)\" width=\"1704\" height=\"2560\"  ><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-152271\">Calvin Bassey for Nigeria (Photo credit: Imago)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Following Fulham\u2019s message, the NFF released a statement shortly afterwards, backing Bassey.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe NFF stands firmly against all forms of discrimination, including racial abuse, and fully supports Calvin Bassey in the face of these unacceptable actions,\u201d the NFF wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all players, both on and off the field. Calvin has our unwavering support, and together, we will continue to fight against racism in football and society.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is not the first time that a black player will be a victim of racist abuse.
