You can find Tim alongside Brian Windhorst and Tim MacMahon on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/espnradio\/podcast\/archive\/_\/id\/3634017\">The Hoop Collective<\/a> podcast.<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>SAN FRANCISCO &#8212; Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and a team they were part of &#8212; the gold medal-winning 2008 U.S. Olympic men&#8217;s basketball team &#8212; headline the group of finalists for this year&#8217;s Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Women&#8217;s basketball legends Sue Bird, Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles are also among the nominees. And coaches Billy Donovan and Mark Few were nominated.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony, a 10-time All-Star, is 10th on the NBA&#8217;s career scoring list with 28,289 points. He also led <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/183\/syracuse-orange\">Syracuse<\/a> to a national championship in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>Howard was the preeminent defensive presence of his era, winning three straight NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards (2009-11). He made eight All-NBA teams, led the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"74c23102-8c27-c8e6-ec1b-8a8fd4d42554\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/orl\/orlando-magic\">Orlando Magic<\/a> to the 2009 NBA Finals and won a title with the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"2876e98b-b9bc-2920-4319-46e6943f8be4\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/lal\/los-angeles-lakers\">Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The 2008 Olympic men&#8217;s team returned Team USA to the top spot internationally after it earned a bronze medal at the 2004 Games and no medals at the 2002 and 2006 world championships. The 2008 team included Anthony, Howard, the late Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd, Dwyane Wade, <a data-player-guid=\"63c7648a-60ba-c799-d355-f7f1d43f3a55\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/2779\/chris-paul\">Chris Paul<\/a>, Chris Bosh and <a data-player-guid=\"1f6592b3-ff53-d321-8dc5-6038d48c1786\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/1966\/lebron-james\">LeBron James<\/a>. It was assembled by Jerry Colangelo, the chairman of the Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>Moore won two national championships at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/womens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/41\/uconn-huskies\">UConn<\/a> and four WNBA titles in her seven-year career with the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"d815e23c-aa3e-3490-d7be-f876d1e30e8a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/wnba\/team\/_\/name\/min\/minnesota-lynx\">Minnesota Lynx<\/a> before she retired in 2018 during her prime to pursue criminal justice reform. Bird also won two titles at UConn and four in the WNBA during her career with the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"2da9bce5-382a-83d9-132c-b6c59d0e8eb9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/wnba\/team\/_\/name\/sea\/seattle-storm\">Seattle Storm<\/a> and is considered one of the greatest point guards in the history of women&#8217;s basketball.<\/p>\n<p>Fowles was a dominant interior presence at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/womens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/99\/lsu-tigers\">LSU<\/a>, which she led to four Final Four appearances. As a professional, she won two titles with Moore as a member of the Lynx. She was the WNBA MVP in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Donovan led <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/57\/florida-gators\">Florida<\/a> to four Final Four appearances in 19 seasons with the Gators, winning back-to-back national titles (2006-07). Those title-winning teams included longtime NBA stars <a data-player-guid=\"b79dd16a-5d4b-d704-9b0c-eaa9ec3df217\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/3213\/al-horford\">Al Horford<\/a> and Joakim Noah. Donovan left the college game and has spent the past decade coaching the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"bd458c44-2d33-47eb-cebc-35d3d4ac595c\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/okc\/oklahoma-city-thunder\">Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a> and <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"e588ccf1-ba03-ea43-c34c-9a9c8d1895ca\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/chi\/chicago-bulls\">Chicago Bulls<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Few is the winningest active coach by percentage at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/2250\/gonzaga-bulldogs\">Gonzaga<\/a> and has led the Bulldogs to two national championship games (2017, 2021) and 25 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.<\/p>\n<p>Other Hall of Fame finalists include longtime NBA referee Danny Crawford, five-time All-Star forward Marques Johnson, longtime college coach Jerry Welsh, three-time NBA All-Star Buck Williams, former <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/womens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/24\/stanford-cardinal\">Stanford<\/a> and WNBA star Jennifer Azzi, women&#8217;s basketball pioneer Molly Bolin, Serbian basketball coach Dusan Ivkovic, <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"81e3212c-30ef-9b1b-5edb-453b13ff265a\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/mia\/miami-heat\">Miami Heat<\/a> owner Micky Arison and Israeli basketball legend Tal Brody.<\/p>\n<p>The group moves to the final round of the nomination process, when a panel of 24 anonymous voters will consider the candidates.
