Gavin Newsom\u2019s handling of the Los Angeles wildfires.<\/p>\n<p>Michaels, best known for her stint as a trainer on \u201cThe Biggest Loser\u201d in the 2010s, previously lived in California before \u201cfleeing\u201d to Florida in 2021 after growing tired of the Golden State\u2019s leadership. <\/p>\n<p>She attributed her changed politics from a lifelong \u201cdeep-blue\u201d Californian to Donald Trump supporter to the 2018 Malibu fire \u2014 which destroyed her home \u2014 and Newsom\u2019s response to that inferno.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/#\" aria-controls=\"nyp-slideshow-modal\" data-slideshow-modal=\"trigger\" title=\"Open a slideshow of all 5 article images.\" aria-label=\"Open a slideshow of all 5 article images.\" data-slideshow-slide-number=\"1\" data-slideshow-slides-total=\"5\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"550\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/01\/Screen-Shot-2025-01-13-at-110419-PM.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Jillian Michaels, celebrity fitness expert, speaking into a microphone about her prediction on California's political change following Newsom's wildfire response\"  ><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><figcaption>Jillian Michaels believes that California will swing further right in the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires. <span>NewsNation<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>It affected my life, and it changed me. Demonstratively, men in every racial category leaned further right this year, with new voters in particular bringing in a slew of votes for the GOP.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou saw that the state gained far more red voters in this previous election. I think there\u2019s going to be a change for sure in the next run for governor,\u201d Michaels said.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom, who is widely viewed as a likely contender for the 2028 presidential race, finishes up his gubernatorial term in 2026 and is not eligible to run again.<\/p>\n<p>Michaels specifically criticized the state\u2019s inconsistent policies, including Proposition One in 2014 which saw $2.7 billion be set aside for \u201cstatewide water system operational improvement and drought preparedness,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/bondaccountability.resources.ca.gov\/p1.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">California Natural Resources Agency<\/a>. The bill would\u2019ve strengthened wildfire preparedness measures by permitting all agencies to submit plans and be actively involved in the process. It was vetoed by Newsom in September.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I hate to make this an issue of red versus blue, I tend to look at this as if California was a company, right? It\u2019s one of the largest economies in the world. You\u2019ve got a bad operator, period.
