the program\u2019s website previously said it had a mission to amplify \u201cunderrepresented voices and untold stories as well as championing the importance of accurate representation in media and entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chief Human Resources Officer Sonia Coleman followed that news on Tuesday with an internal memo outlining Disney\u2019s apparent shift away from DEI.<\/p>\n<p>Moving forward, Disney will replace its \u201cDiversity &#038; Inclusion\u201d performance evaluation metric with a new \u201cTalent Strategy\u201d factor that is more focused on how employees are driving business success. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new factor represents an evolution of important concepts in the former Diversity &#038; Inclusion OPF (Other Performance Factors) and will be used alongside our other two OPFs, \u2018Storytelling &#038; Creativity\u2019 and \u2018Synergy,\u2019\u201d Coleman wrote in the memo obtained by TheWrap. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/02\/11\/disney-dei-changes-trump-era?stream=top&#038;utm_source=alert&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_campaign=alerts_media_trends\">Axios,<\/a> the first outlet to share the memo on Tuesday, reported Disney will be shutting down its \u201cReimagine Tomorrow\u201d program and website.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/elon-musk-insecurity-openai-sam-altman\/\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thewrap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/elon-musk-10-24.jpg?fit=300%2C169&#038;quality=89&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Entertainment Elon Musk\"   data-portal-copyright=\"TheWrap\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\">\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Disney will also be updating the trigger warning it shows before viewers stream old movies such as \u201cDumbo\u201d and \u201cPeter Pan,\u201d Axios reported.<\/p>\n<p>The current warning that content \u201cincludes negative depictions and\/or mistreatment of peoples or cultures\u201d will now read: \u201cThis program is presented as originally created and may contain stereotypes or negative depictions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coleman\u2019s Tuesday memo also reiterated Disney\u2019s plan to focus on four key pillars that will continue to make it a \u201cwelcoming, respectful, and inclusive\u201d workplace; the plan was first shared in December.<\/p>\n<p>Those pillars and their descriptions from Coleman are listed below: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>People<\/strong>: We reach and attract the best, most talented people around the world and foster barrier-free talent processes for everyone.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Culture<\/strong>: We purposefully champion a culture where everyone belongs and can contribute to our business success.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Market Reach<\/strong>: We create unforgettable stories, experiences, and products that entertain and resonate globally.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community<\/strong>: We learn from and support under-served communities by establishing and investing in impactful relationships with organizations and business stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Disney\u2019s changes reflect the current shift in the zeitgeist against DEI from a political, social and business perspective.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, President Trump signed an executive order that \u201cterminates \u2018diversity, equity and inclusion\u2019 (DEI) discrimination in the federal workforce, and in federal contracting and spending.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By canceling federal DEI programs, the order said it was \u201crestoring the values of individual dignity, hard work and excellence \u2026 fundamental to American greatness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A number of major companies have canceled or trimmed their DEI programs in the wake of Trump\u2019s executive order, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/conormurray\/2025\/02\/11\/google-calendar-cuts-pride-month-black-history-month-and-more-observances-here-are-all-the-companies-rolling-back-dei\/\">Meta, Google and Target.<\/a> Also on Monday, PBS announced it was closing down its DEI office in order to comply with the president\u2019s EO.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/big-tech-trump-inauguration-zuckerberg-elon-musk\/\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thewrap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/BigTech_2.png?fit=300%2C169&#038;quality=80&#038;ssl=1\" alt   data-portal-copyright=\"TheWrap\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\">\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/disney-ditches-dei-program-executive-order\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Sean Burch<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 11, 2025 @ 10:14 AM Disney is ditching aspects of its diversity, equity and inclusion program, becoming the latest major company to scale back its DEI operation following President Donald Trump\u2019s recent executive order terminating DEI in the federal workforce.
