Pelosi also played a large role in pushing for President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a> to withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election. At the same time, she has constantly been seen speaking out against President-elect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a> and what his administration may do in the next four years.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time this week that an older prominent member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/congress\" data-sys=\"1\">Congress<\/a> was injured on the job. Senate Minority Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/mitch-mcconnell\">Mitch McConnell<\/a>, a Kentucky <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/republican\" data-sys=\"1\">Republican<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/mitch-mcconnell-fall-gop-medical-attention-age-1998776\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fell and sprained his wrist on Tuesday<\/a> after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/senate\">Senate<\/a> Republican lunch on Capitol Hill, his office told <em>Newsweek.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure data-gtm-category=\"Related In-Text A\" data-gtm-action=\"Click\">\n<\/figure>\n<p>Medical staff were reportedly seen entering McConnell&#8217;s office, but Republican Senator John Barrasso of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/wyoming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wyoming<\/a> said McConnell had only sustained &#8220;a small scratch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/mitch-mcconnell-speech-trump-reagan-national-defense-1997664\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McConnell<\/a>, 82, sustained a cut to his face as well as a sprained wrist. His spokesperson, however, said he is allowed to continue to work.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Leader McConnell tripped following lunch,&#8221; a spokesperson for the Kentucky senator told <em>Newsweek <\/em>at the time. &#8220;He sustained a minor cut to the face and sprained his wrist.
