Gemini<\/a> is exploring a potential initial public offering (IPO) as soon as this year, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sources told the newswire that the exchange is discussing a public listing with potential advisers, but no final decision has been made. <\/span>Gemini did not immediately respond to requests for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart<\/a> said <\/span>more crypto firms are likely to pursue IPOs<\/a> in the next couple of years due to <\/span>President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> administration, which has signaled a pro-crypto agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Federal Election Commission filings, the Winklevoss twins, Cameron<\/a> and Tyler<\/a>, recently donated Bitcoin (BTC<\/a>) in excess of the maximum allowed amount to Trump\u2019s campaign, with the surplus refunded.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the report, other crypto companies are also considering IPOs. Bullish Global, a digital asset exchange backed by billionaire investor Peter Thiel, is exploring a public listing as soon as this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regulatory shifts<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The IPO rumors come amid the exchange\u2019s efforts to reposition its business after the conclusion of multiple-year-long regulatory and legal challenges.<\/p>\n

On Jan. 7, the exchange co-founders <\/span>agreed to pay a $5 million fine<\/a><\/strong> to settle a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) lawsuit.\u00a0<\/span>The lawsuit accused the crypto exchange of misleading regulators in its bid to launch the first US-regulated Bitcoin futures contract.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, Gemini recently <\/span>announced it will exit<\/a><\/strong> the Canadian market, joining other crypto firms like Bybit<\/a>, Binance<\/a>, and Paxos<\/a> that have cited regulatory challenges in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, the exchange <\/span>secured a license<\/a><\/strong> in Singapore to offer cross-border money transfers and digital payment token services, aligning with the country\u2019s pro-crypto stance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Other firms, including OKX<\/a>, Upbit<\/a>, Ripple<\/a>, and Coinbase<\/a>, have expanded in Singapore amid regulatory tightening in different regions.<\/span><\/p>\n
