You copied us!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ChatGPT parent said DeepSeek used a process called \u201cdistillation,\u201d which involves having a smaller A.I. model learn from the output of a larger one to optimize functionality.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Everyone not getting an OpenAI paycheck saw the irony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Hmm.<\/em> Vacuuming up someone else\u2019s work! What\u2019s that saying? Karma\u2019s a\u2026well, you know. And if you don\u2019t, GPT-4 can easily complete that sentence,\u201d Joanna Stern wrote in The Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n<p>What makes OpenAI\u2019s complaint even sadder is that distillation is SOP in the world of AI.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vast majority of LLM insights and breakthroughs are \u2018borrowed\u2019.
