{"id":822097,"date":"2025-01-26T06:12:02","date_gmt":"2025-01-26T12:12:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/26\/largest-taxpayers-in-construction-revealed\/"},"modified":"2025-01-26T06:12:02","modified_gmt":"2025-01-26T12:12:02","slug":"largest-taxpayers-in-construction-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/26\/largest-taxpayers-in-construction-revealed\/","title":{"rendered":"Largest taxpayers in construction revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/emap-romulus-prod.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/01\/Money_financial_shutterstock.jpg\"   alt=\"Money_financial_shutterstock.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Construction bigwigs feature prominently in the latest annual update of the UK&#8217;s top taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Sunday Times <\/em>Tax List 2025, which covers tax paid by individuals and families, includes 15 names from the construction sector (see table, below), up from 12 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/constructions-biggest-taxpayers-revealed-29-01-2024\/\">the year before<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In all, sector figures accounted for \u00a3540.3m of the \u00a34.99bn in tax paid by the top 100.<\/p>\n<p>There were four new entries this year from the construction world. Eight others saw their ranking rise and only three fell.<\/p>\n<p>The highest-ranking payer was JCB owner Lord Bamford and his family in 11<sup>th<\/sup> place, having paid \u00a3121.3m \u2013 almost double the previous year\u2019s \u00a367.8m.<\/p>\n<p>Bloor Homes owner John Bloor was 17<sup>th<\/sup> with \u00a3121.3m, down from 9<sup>th<\/sup> place in 2024 when he paid \u00a3118.1m.<\/p>\n<p>The top taxpayer among contractors was John Murphy and family with \u00a365.1m, ahead of Tim Wates and family (\u00a350.2m).<\/p>\n<p>The Kirkland family, owners of Bowmer &#038; Kirkland, were ranked 49<sup>th<\/sup> with \u00a322.9m in tax paid.<\/p>\n<p>Joanne Conway and family rose 11 places in this year\u2019s list to 52<sup>nd<\/sup> (\u00a322.5m), but the biggest surge came from the Bailey family. The NG Bailey owners rose 39 places to 56<sup>th<\/sup> with \u00a321.1m.<\/p>\n<p>Lower down the list, Keltbray executive chairman Brendan Kerr paid \u00a314.7m in tax, putting him in 77<sup>th<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n<p>Among the other entries from the construction sector this year, Martin Flannery and family of Flannery Plant Hire re-entered the <em>Sunday Times <\/em>list in equal 50<sup>th<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n<p>MV Kelly founder John Kelly and family entered the list in 59th place, one ahead of Ed Sheeran.<\/p>\n<p>Derek Keys, founder of a firm of digger auctioneers, joined the list in 84<sup>th<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n<p>The other new entrant was Chris Woolridge and family, who own steel galvanising specialist firm Wedge Group.
