Now operating with a consistent, well-oiled live band, this collective energy has helped push SPELLLING\u2019s work to another level.<\/p>\n<p>New album \u2018Portrait Of My Heart\u2019 races forwards once more, a helter skelter creative process that saw Cabral complete the visceral title cut, before allowing the rest of the album to fall into place. <\/p>\n<p>Out now, \u2018Portrait Of My Heart\u2019 \u2013 with its soaring cry of \u201cI don\u2019t belong here\u2026\u201d \u2013 is a real call-to-arms, one of the most impassioned, direct and open aspects in SPELLLING\u2019s armoury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf this is what I\u2019m supposed to be doing, and that I\u2019ve chosen this life path, why does it cause me so much discomfort all the time?\u201d\u00a0She continues: \u201cThe song conceptually is dealing with the sort of mental torment of being obsessed with making art and it consuming you.\u00a0Choosing art over everything\u2026over love\u2026over the love of life and dealing with the consequences of this.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the lyrics for the title track came together, it really started to morph everything in this more energetic direction, instead of this more whimsical landscape that I\u2019ve worked with before. It started to become more driven, higher energy, more focused,\u201d\u00a0Cabral explains.\u00a0\u201cAnd I have a big affection for it because of that. I love that it feels like it withstood transformation, which is something I always want to aspire to with things that I make. I want them to have this sense of timelessness.
