<\/span> Sir Elton John recently disclosed that he’s lost his sight due to an eye infection. From\u00a0hip replacement<\/a>\u00a0surgeries to\u00a0bacterial infections<\/a>,\u00a0Elton John<\/a>\u00a0has suffered myriad\u00a0health<\/a>\u00a0issues over the last several years. Most recently, the \u201cI\u2019m Still Standing\u201d star revealed he was battling an intense infection that severely affected his eyesight. Over the weekend, the music legend confirmed he had lost his vision.<\/p>\n \u201cAs some of you may know, I have had issues, and now I have lost my sight,\u201d he said onstage. \u201cI haven\u2019t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed it.\u201d<\/p>\n Since an Instagram post at the end of the summer, the musician has kept the public updated about his health struggle and battle to recover his vision. Here\u2019s everything the Rocketman has shared about losing his eyesight.<\/p>\n In an Instagram post on Sept. 3, John revealed that he experienced a \u201csevere\u201d eye infection over the summer that had limited vision in one eye. The infection happened as he spent time in the south of France.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI am healing, but it\u2019s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,\u201d he said. \u201cI am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The artist\u00a0joked<\/a>\u00a0about his health woes while speaking\u00a0at the New York premiere of his documentary film\u00a0Elton John: Never Too Late<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don\u2019t have a prostate. I don\u2019t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee,\u201d he said, according to\u00a0People<\/a><\/em>. \u201cIn fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTo be honest with you, there\u2019s not much of me left,\u201d he added. \u201cBut I\u2019m still here. And I can\u2019t thank you [enough], you\u2019re the people that made me.\u201d<\/p>\n The musician\u00a0visited\u00a0Good Morning America<\/em><\/a>\u00a0on Nov. 25, and when asked about new music,\u00a0he said it had \u201cbeen a while since I\u2019ve done anything\u201d because of his vision loss.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s hope and encouragement that it will be OK, but I\u2019m kind of stuck at the moment\u2026 going into the studio and recording, I don\u2019t know,\u201d he said, explaining that he cannot read lyrics or watch anything.<\/p>\n During the premiere of West End debut of the\u00a0Devil Wears Prada\u00a0<\/em>musical\u00a0on Dec. 1, the music legend revealed that he\u2019s\u00a0completely lost his vision<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cAs some of you may know, I have had issues, and now I have lost my sight,\u201d John said onstage at London\u2019s Dominion Theatre. \u201cI haven\u2019t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTo my husband, who\u2019s been my rock because I haven\u2019t been able to come to many of the previews,\u201d he added, \u201cIt\u2019s hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it, and it sounded good tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n John made his way on and off the stage with the assistance of his husband, David Furnish.<\/p>\n
