Senate President Godswill Akpabio restated yesterday the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration\u2019s determination to fix economy and touch lives.<\/p>\n

He urged Nigerians in the Southsouth and Southeast regions to pitch their tent with the President in its effort to take the country to loftier heights.<\/p>\n

Akpabio, who spoke yesterday in Ikot Ekpene during his constituency briefing and empowerment of constituents noted that the economy was in bad shape when Tinubu came into power in May 2023.<\/p>\n

According to the Akpabio, the President\u2019s determination to change the narrative has no bias for ethnic, religious and party affiliations.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cPresident Tinubu met a very bad condition on ground; nobody envied him; he said he was determined to change the situation; let us encourage him to change the situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that at the end of the day, we will move the country forward. He did it in Lagos before; he will do it again in Nigeria; just give him time; he will take us to our El Dorado.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want us to know that Nigeria was on life support when the people voted Tinubu to become the president.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne day I asked him, Mr. President, after becoming the president and seeing the level of economy left behind for you, are you excited? He said, well, I\u2019m determined to change the situation.\u201d <\/p>\n

Akpabio told his audience that the president had touched many lives through continuous constituency projects across the country.<\/p>\n

He also said that the Federal Government plans to develop the regions and empower the people with the establishment of regional commissions and the creation the Ministry of Regional Commissions<\/p>\n

According to Akpabio, the president has shown so much love to the Southeast by giving a key ministry \u2013 the Ministry of Works \u2013 to them and signing the Southeast Development Commission Bill.<\/p>\n

\u201cSoutheast has lots of ecological problems; it has very poor roads, just like the South-South and Mr. President decided to give us the ministry of works in addition to other key ministries, even the petroleum and gas ministry,\u201d the Senate President said.<\/p>\n

Some of the items distributed to the constituents incude among others, bags of rice, cars, generating sets, deep freezers, tractors, tricycle vans, mini-buses, motorcycles, sewing machines and make-up kits.<\/p>\n

The senate president, who also disbursed N200, 000 to 2,000 undergraduates across his Senatorial district, said the gesture has the backing of President Tinubu as a way of appreciation to the people for their votes and support.<\/p>\n

He commended Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno for his peaceful disposition and for extending hands of friendship by sending 1,000 bags of rice to the All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in the state.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n
