{"id":818935,"date":"2025-01-11T05:11:51","date_gmt":"2025-01-11T11:11:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/11\/caa-sean-penns-core-and-lausd-launch-fund-to-aid-wildfire-recovery\/"},"modified":"2025-01-11T05:11:51","modified_gmt":"2025-01-11T11:11:51","slug":"caa-sean-penns-core-and-lausd-launch-fund-to-aid-wildfire-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/11\/caa-sean-penns-core-and-lausd-launch-fund-to-aid-wildfire-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"CAA, Sean Penn\u2019s CORE and LAUSD Launch Fund to Aid Wildfire Recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Entertainment <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n\tIn response to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/wildfires\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wildfires_1\" data-tag=\"wildfires\">wildfires<\/a> that have devastated communities across Southern California, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/caa\/\" id=\"auto-tag_caa_1\" data-tag=\"caa\">CAA<\/a> Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Creative Artists Agency; CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort), the aid organization co-founded by Sean Penn and Ann Lee; and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/los-angeles\/\" id=\"auto-tag_los-angeles_1\" data-tag=\"los-angeles\">Los Angeles<\/a> Unified School District Education Foundation have come together to launch the SoCal Fire Fund.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eifoundation.org\/fiscally-sponsored-funds\/socal-fire-fund\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">SoCal Fire Fund<\/a> will support recovery initiatives that aid students, school employees and families impacted by the January 2025 fires. With initial donations made by CAA leadership, the coalition is seeking additional partners to join their efforts in the fund, which will be administered by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe scope of loss for neighbors across Los Angeles is immense and calls for a robust, compassionate, and flexible response\u2014one that prioritizes their immediate and long-term recovery needs,\u201d said Natalie Tran, executive director of the CAA Foundation, in a statement. \u201cWe are grateful for the expertise of our long-standing partners for coming together to provide this unique and holistic approach. We invite all individuals, networks, and companies to join us as we face this still-unfolding crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe SoCal Fire Fund is one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/la-wildfires-how-to-help-1236104255\/\">multiple relief efforts<\/a> underway in response to the fires, which have killed 11 people, destroyed more than 10,000 structures and led to evacuations from the Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Altadena, Pasadena and more areas of the city.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/local-news\/disney-to-donate-15m-to-l-a-fire-relief-efforts-1236106712\/\">Disney<\/a> has said it will donate $15 million to various relief efforts, including the American Red Cross and the L.A. Fire Department Foundation; Live Nation is producing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/music-news\/fireaid-benefit-concert-los-angeles-wildfire-intuit-dome-1236106654\/\">benefit concert<\/a> \u2014 FireAid \u2014 at the Intuit Dome on Jan. 30; and GoFundMe has established a growing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/c\/act\/wildfire-relief\/california\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">hub<\/a> for its verified pages related to the fires.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe SoCal Fire Fund is intended to provide equitable recovery through flexible funding and the targeting of vulnerable communities, its organizers said.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThrough a network of case managers working throughout Los Angeles County, CORE will utilize the infrastructure that we\u2019ve built to support over the long-term those impacted by the fires to rebuild their lives,\u201d said Ann Lee, the co-founder and CEO of CORE, which has responded to wildfire relief efforts in California for years. \u201cOur collective work with the SoCal Fire Fund is focused on delivering immediate support to vulnerable families and individuals displaced by the fires, while also laying the groundwork for years to come to strengthen neighborhoods that are the most marginalized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn addition to the LAUSD, the LAUSD Education Foundation will collaborate with neighboring school districts, including the Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation and the Pasadena Education Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cOur region\u2019s public schools are community hubs, offering resources, connection, and safety,\u201d said Alberto M.
