{"id":818929,"date":"2025-01-11T04:11:30","date_gmt":"2025-01-11T10:11:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/11\/bovis-brand-to-be-revived-after-lendlease-sale\/"},"modified":"2025-01-11T04:11:30","modified_gmt":"2025-01-11T10:11:30","slug":"bovis-brand-to-be-revived-after-lendlease-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/11\/bovis-brand-to-be-revived-after-lendlease-sale\/","title":{"rendered":"Bovis brand to be revived after Lendlease sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/emap-romulus-prod.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2023\/12\/Lendlease_Athletes-Village-and-International-Quarter_3-1024x683-1.jpg\"   alt=\"Lendlease_Athletes-Village-and-International-Quarter_3-1024x683-1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The buyer of Lendlease\u2019s UK construction business intends to resurrect the Bovis brand name but is not planning a major restructure of operations, <em>Construction News<\/em> understands.<\/p>\n<p>A week ago, Lendlease Group announced it had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/lendlease-sold-for-35m-to-us-private-equity-firm-02-01-2025\/\">reached an agreement to sell its UK construction operations<\/a> to US private equity firm Atlas Holdings for \u00a335m.<\/p>\n<p>A source told <em>CN<\/em> that Atlas will no longer be able to use the Lendlease name and is planning to rename the UK contractor, incorporating the Bovis marque, to differentiate it from its former Australian parent company.<\/p>\n<p><em>CN<\/em> also understands that Atlas Holdings, which often invests in firms that are struggling financially, considers Lendlease a fundamentally sound business and is not planning a major restructuring exercise.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Atlas said that \u201csubstantially all\u201d of Lendlease UK\u2019s employees will keep their jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The business will operate entirely independently from envelope contractor Permasteelisa, which is already owned by Atlas Holdings.<\/p>\n<p>A Lendlease spokesperson did not comment on the revival of the Bovis brand directly, but told <em>CN<\/em>: \u201cThe UK construction business will have a new name and brand on completion of the deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s something being worked on and will be announced in due course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bovis Construction was founded in London as CW Bovis &#038; Co by Charles Bovis in 1885.<\/p>\n<p>In 1974, it was acquired for \u00a325m by P&#038;O after a banking crisis hit Twentieth Century Banking, which Bovis had bought two years earlier.<\/p>\n<p>In 1997,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/sections\/news\/december-city-listing-for-bovis-homes-16-10-1997\/\">Bovis Homes\u00a0was hived off<\/a> by the parent company and floated on the London Stock Exchange. It still operates today.<\/p>\n<p>Lendlease acquired Bovis Construction in 1999 and initially named it Bovis Lend Lease.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0company\u00a0underwent\u00a0extensive\u00a0restructuring\u00a0in\u00a02009\u00a0and two years later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/sections\/news\/lend-lease-confirms-bovis-name-drop-17-02-2011\/\">Lendlease\u00a0decided\u00a0to drop the\u00a0Bovis\u00a0brand\u00a0name<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Under the deal announced last week, Lendlease Group will receive A$70m (\u00a335m) for its UK assets, A$20m of which will be paid in June 2026, subject to adjustment as the sale process is completed.<\/p>\n<p>The sale is expected to complete before June, the end of the Australian financial year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/bovis-brand-to-be-revived-after-lendlease-sale-09-01-2025\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Charlotte Banks<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The buyer of Lendlease\u2019s UK construction business intends to resurrect the Bovis brand name but is not planning a major restructure of operations, Construction News understands.
