Photo by IMAGO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>CAF, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cafonline.com\/womens-football\/news\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-fifa-u-17-womens-world-cup-qualifiers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement released on Thursday<\/a>, confirmed that the qualification journey will begin on January 10, 2025, with 28 African nations vying for a chance to join hosts Morocco at the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>A total of five African representatives will compete at the finals.<\/p>\n<p>The qualification process will be conducted over three rounds, with home-and-away fixtures determining the winners at each stage.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s U-17 women\u2019s national team, <a href=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/?s=Flamingos+\">the Flamingos<\/a>, have been given a bye into the second round due to their impressive track record.<\/p>\n<p>Having participated in all but one edition of the U-17 Women\u2019s World Cup, the Flamingos are widely regarded as one of Africa\u2019s powerhouses in women\u2019s youth football.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_146779\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-146779\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/app\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GaC1HtaWQAE2ImF.jpeg\" alt=\"Soccer Nigeria\u2019s Flamingos\" width=\"750\" height=\"900\"  ><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-146779\">Photo by IMAGO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>They <a href=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/2024\/10\/dream-dashed-nigerias-flamingos-exit-fifa-u17-womens-world-cup-after-quarterfinal-loss-to-usa.html\">reached the knockout stages<\/a> and clinched the Fair Play Award during the 2024 edition held in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n<p>In the second round, Nigeria will take on the winner of the first-round encounter between Gabon and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>While South Africa has appeared in two of the tournament\u2019s eight editions, Gabon is eyeing their first-ever qualification.<\/p>\n<p>If victorious, Nigeria will face a third-round clash against the winner of the matchups involving Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Tunisia, and Algeria.<\/p>\n<p>CAF also revealed the schedule for the qualifiers.
