However, this revolution has been limited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/more-internet-addresses-more-user-to-user-payments-the-joy-of-ipv6-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">insufficient IP addresses in the IPv4<\/a> internet protocol. Now, IPv6 is taking over, and according to nChain\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alessio-pagani\/?originalSubdomain=uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Alessio Pagani<\/a>, its convergence with Bitcoin lays the foundation for a decentralized future.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3MSdvCcxqUQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen> frameborder=&#8221;0&#8243; allow=&#8221;accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share&#8221; referrerpolicy=&#8221;strict-origin-when-cross-origin&#8221; allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Pagani is the director of research at <a href=\"https:\/\/nchain.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nChain<\/a>, the London-based industry leader in enterprise blockchain solutions. At the IEEE COINS Conference, he joined CoinGeek\u2019s Becky Liggero to discuss the intersection of Bitcoin and IPv6 and why <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/latif-ladid-on-ipv6-role-in-the-global-metanet-vision-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">they are critical for the Metanet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At nChain, Pagani\u2019s team is working on <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/ipv6-bitcoins-certified-addresses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IPv6 Bitcoin-certified addresses<\/a>. He revealed that this is enabled by IPv6\u2019s address size, allowing users to create cryptographically generated addresses and link them to private keys that they control.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can now use the same private key to generate a Bitcoin address. Now, you can have a wallet that generates an IPv6 address and also a Bitcoin address. Your wallet will control how you exchange value and how you exchange data. This is the way to create new Web3 Metanet experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Integrating the <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/blockchain101\/a-look-into-ipv6-the-role-of-blockchain-in-new-internet-communication-protocol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IPv6 address<\/a> into the blockchain gives it \u201can unprecedented level of security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>nChain\u2019s products are geared towards enabling users to own their data in the digital economy. Pagani noted that this is only possible with <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/nchain-christine-leong-talks-digital-identity-in-web3-on-coingeek-backstage-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decentralized identities<\/a> (DiDs), which enable you to own your data fully and move it at will among third-party platforms.<\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/one-trusted-ledger-trusted-data-ownership-and-low-fees-bsv-has-it-all-says-owen-vaughan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">data ownership<\/a> is the basis of data monetization, which is only possible with a blockchain network that supports <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/untangling-web3-podcast-4-recap-micropayments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">micropayments<\/a>. Pagani singled out AI as an industry ripe for impact by data ownership and monetization. AI models feed on massive amounts of data, most of which <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/european-privacy-group-files-complaints-against-meta-ai-data-scraping\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">has been scrapped<\/a> from the public internet without the knowledge <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/google-asks-court-to-dismiss-ai-data-scraping-class-action\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">or consent<\/a> of its owners.
