Nevertheless, it was a disappointing end to a terrific year.<\/p>\n<p class>The program made its Big Ten debut this season, and Oregon put together a perfect 12-0 record. Dan Lanning&#8217;s team outlasted Penn State in the conference championship game to finish 13-0 and enter the CFP as the nation&#8217;s undisputed No. 1 seed.<\/p>\n<p class>Unfortunately for Oregon, that&#8217;s where it ended.<\/p>\n<p class>But as we look ahead to the 2025 season, the Ducks are positioned well to remain in the national conversation.<\/p>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"slide1\">\n<h2>Football Who&#8217;s Staying<\/h2>\n<p>1 of 3<\/p>\n<ol>\n<div itemscope itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n<div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Football\" alt=\"Football Matayo Uiagalelei\" src=\"https:\/\/media.bleacherreport.com\/image\/upload\/w_40,h_27,c_fill\/v1735657043\/msx7pjmksjbxbys4rrcg.jpg\" itemprop=\"contentUrl\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><small><span>Matayo Uiagalelei<\/span><span itemprop=\"citation\">Robin Alam\/ISI Photos\/Getty Images<\/span><\/small><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class><b>The Next QB?<\/b><\/p>\n<p class>Given how active Oregon can be with transfers, it may be dangerous to crown <b>Dante Moore<\/b> as QB1 in 2025. At this moment, however, the former UCLA starter is trending that direction. Moore played sparingly for the Ducks this season but tallied 1,610 yards as a true freshman at UCLA.<\/p>\n<p class><b>Star Pass-Rusher<\/b><\/p>\n<p class>More on this shortly, but Oregon&#8217;s defense is set to undergo a facelift. However, the pass-rushing group will be built around <b>Matayo Uiagalelei<\/b>. Even before the CFP began, he&#8217;d racked up 37 tackles with 12.5 for loss (10.5 sacks) and two forced fumbles.<\/p>\n<p class><b>Standout Linebackers<\/b><\/p>\n<p class>The defense also brings back <b>Teitum Tuioti<\/b> and <b>Devon Jackson<\/b>, two valuable players in the front six\/seven. Tuioti notched 54 tackles with 5.5 sacks through the Big Ten Championship Game, and Jackson added 48 stops during that stretch as a complement to the Ducks&#8217; veteran linebackers.<\/p>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"slide2\">\n<h2>Football Who&#8217;s Leaving<\/h2>\n<p>2 of 3<\/p>\n<ol>\n<div itemscope itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n<div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Football\" alt=\"Football Dillon Gabriel\" src=\"https:\/\/media.bleacherreport.com\/image\/upload\/w_40,h_27,c_fill\/v1735656802\/kj42wuq0gzkazdvomsyj.jpg\" itemprop=\"contentUrl\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><small><span>Dillon Gabriel<\/span><span itemprop=\"citation\">James Black\/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images<\/span><\/small><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class><b>Most of the Offense<\/b><\/p>\n<p class>The biggest loss is <b>Dillon Gabriel<\/b>, a record-setting QB during his six college years. Oregon also needs to replace key receivers <b>Tez Johnson<\/b> and <b>Traeshon Holden<\/b>, along with right tackle <b>Ajani Cornelius<\/b>. That doesn&#8217;t look so bad until you consider that a few others\u2014running backs <b>Jordan James<\/b> and <b>Noah Whittington<\/b>, wideout <b>Evan Stewart<\/b> and left tackle <b>Josh Conerly Jr.<\/b> among them\u2014are likely NFL-bound.<\/p>\n<p class><b>Most of the Defense<\/b><\/p>\n<p class>Let&#8217;s be honest, you know? This is a thorough rebuild in Eugene. We know edge-rusher <b>Jordan Burch<\/b>, linebackers <b>Bryce Boettcher<\/b>, <b>Jeffrey Bassa<\/b> and <b>Jestin Jacobs<\/b>, cornerbacks <b>Jabbar Muhammad<\/b>, <b>Nikko Reed<\/b> and <b>Dontae Manning<\/b>, nickelback <b>Brandon Johnson<\/b> and safety <b>Tysheem Johnson<\/b> are out of eligibility. Defensive tackles <b>Derrick Harmon<\/b> and <b>Jamaree Caldwell<\/b> and safety <b>Kobe Savage<\/b> may enter the 2025 NFL draft, as well.<\/p>\n<p class><b>Outgoing Transfers<\/b><\/p>\n<p class>The optimist says Oregon can withstand just about any transfer, and I&#8217;m inclined to agree. Simultaneously, it&#8217;s fair to point out the Ducks&#8217; departures. At least five of the Ducks&#8217; six commits should contribute immediately. Offensive tackles <b>Isaiah World<\/b> and <b>Alex Harkey<\/b> hail from Nevada and Texas State, respectively, and UO also has USC defensive tackle <b>Bear Alexander<\/b>, Northwestern cornerback <b>Theran Johnson<\/b> and Purdue safety <b>Dillon Thieneman<\/b> on the way.<\/p>\n<p class><b>5-Star from Big Ten Country<\/b><\/p>\n<p class>Technically speaking, the West Coast is part of Big Ten country. Realistically, we&#8217;re talking about the Midwest\u2014and the Ducks waltzed into Ohio and scored a major recruiting win with safety <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/trey-mcnutt-46133808\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Trey McNutt<\/b><\/a>. The prized prospect from Cleveland is rated 28th overall in the class.<\/p>\n<p class><b>Top-5 Recruiting Class<\/b><\/p>\n<p class>Oregon has a couple more 5-star signees with receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/dakorien-moore-46111842\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Dakorien Moore<\/b><\/a> (fourth overall) and cornerback <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/naeem-offord-46136239\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Na&#8217;eem Offord<\/b><\/a> (11th). Also in the nation&#8217;s fifth-ranked haul are 4-star corners <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/brandon-finney-46144928\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Brandon Finney<\/b><\/a> (39th) and <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/dorian-brew-46129785\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Dorian Brew<\/b><\/a> (49th).
