(1\/3)<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 YouTube TV (@YouTubeTV) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/YouTubeTV\/status\/1867236661173612567?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 12, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2>Why It Matters<\/h2>\n<p>YouTube TV, which includes live TV from 100+ broadcast, cable and regional sports networks, has raised its prices several times over a number of years. Clearly that was a lie.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Newsweek<\/em> has contacted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/google\" data-sys=\"1\">Google<\/a>, YouTube&#8217;s parent company, for comment via email.<\/p>\n<h2>What Happens Next<\/h2>\n<p>For current YouTube subscribers, the increase will take effect from January 13, 2025, while new users are already subject to the cost.<\/p>\n<p>Whether this results in a dip in subscribers for YouTube TV remains to be seen, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/disney-earnings-beat-expectations-streaming-boosts-profits-1985733\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with the streaming industry seeing mixed results in recent years<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the first three months of 2024, analysts at media research firm MoffettNathanson estimated that the industry as a whole lost 2.37 million subscribers \u2014 a drop of 6.9 percent.
