Seung-hyun<\/a>) has made his public return in epic fashion.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/squid-game\/\">Squid Game<\/a><\/em> director <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/hwang-dong-hyuk\/\">Hwang Dong-hyuk<\/a> recently praised the BigBang alum\u2019s performance in Season 2 of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/netflix\/\">Netflix<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/k-drama\/\" id=\"auto-tag_k-drama\" data-tag=\"k-drama\">K-drama<\/a> as rapper Thanos after he was previously blackballed from Korean entertainment following his 2017 guilty plea to marijuana usage.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cAs you may know, the actor Seung-hyun, about nine years ago got involved in a marijuana scandal in Korea and wasn\u2019t able to do any projects for the past nine years in Korea,\u201d explained Dong-hyuk to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/squid-game-director-says-season-2-is-comeback-k-pop-star-top-after-marjiuana-scandal-exclusive-8766848\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">People<\/a><\/em>. \u201cAnd so this is a comeback after quite a long hiatus, and particularly because he portrays a character that\u2019s a rapper and also someone who is on drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n<div data-pmc-adm-ad-id=\"1236046283\">\n<h3>\n\t\t\tWatch on Deadline\t\t<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\n\tIn Season 2 of <em>Squid Game<\/em>, now streaming on Netflix, disgraced Thanos (Player 230) quickly resorts to shady and lethal tactics as he competes in the high-stakes game while on drugs.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cI feel that it took him a lot of guts, in a way, to portray a character, especially someone who shares a lot of similarities that are quite negative to him as a person too,\u201d said Dong-hyuk. \u201cSo I think it took him a lot of courage to take on that
