Since the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/no-peter-todd-isnt-satoshi-nakamoto\"><span>documentary aired two weeks ago<\/span><\/a><span>, Todd has been bombarded with harassment and demands for money, forcing him to retreat from the public eye. Despite denying these claims, Todd faces ongoing attention that has compromised his safety, calling the attention \u201cabsurd.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoins <span>Todd Denied Link Immediately<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>The documentary, titled <\/span><i><span>Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery<\/span><\/i><span>, was trumpeted with much fanfare earlier this month, with the creators claiming to have unmasked Satoshi. The show suggested that Todd, due to his deep involvement in Bitcoin\u2019s early development, is Nakamoto, focusing on a series of speculative claims, including a 2010 interaction on the BitcoinTalk forum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Critics, however, including Todd himself, have pointed out numerous flaws in the documentary\u2019s timeline, arguing that Todd was not actively involved with Bitcoin until years after Nakamoto\u2019s disappearance. Todd\u2019s colleagues in the cryptocurrency space have also spoken out against the film\u2019s conclusions, with many decrying the so-called \u2018evidence\u2019. Todd himself sarcastically noted, \u201cOf course I\u2019m Satoshi\u2026 and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/craig-wright-satoshi-nakamoto-or-egotistical-fraud\"><span>Craig Wright<\/span><\/a><span> too,\u201d referencing another individual who has falsely claimed to be Nakamoto.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoins <span>Safety Concerns Prompt Withdrawal<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>Despite the light-hearted tone, Todd has taken the threats seriously, opting, wisely, for seclusion. Todd told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/peter-todd-was-unmasked-as-bitcoin-creator-satoshi-nakamoto-now-hes-in-hiding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><i><span>WIRED<\/span><\/i><\/a><span> that, whoever was fingered, the whole thing was \u201cclearly going to be a circus,\u201d with the alleged reveal being nothing more than a marketing ploy to get people to watch. The creator, Cullen Holback, still stands by his identification:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>While of course we can\u2019t outright say he is Satoshi, I think that we make a very strong case.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>In addition to the fallout from the documentary, Todd\u2019s situation highlights the dangers faced by those linked to Bitcoin\u2019s creation.
