Nokia filed the patent in China in July but the application was made public last week on December 17. According to the patent, the telecom company wants to create a \u201cnon-transitory computer-readable medium [\u2026] comprising program instructions for [\u2026] encrypting a digital asset using a first key,\u201d a description that points to a Nokia-created crypto <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/why-is-storing-bitcoin-so-important-and-how-to-do-it\"><span>wallet<\/span><\/a><span> or custody solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span>Nokia To Provide Digital Asset Encryption and Decryption<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>Nokia\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pss-system.cponline.cnipa.gov.cn\/documents\/detail?prevPageTit=changgui\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>intentions<\/span><\/a><span> were disclosed by China\u2019s patent office, China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). Further details of Nokia\u2019s intentions show that the encryption system will also provide identification of the encrypted virtual assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Apart from performing encryption functions, the \u201ccomputer-readable medium\u201d will perform decryption functions for \u201can encrypted digital asset.\u201d The patent, however, isn\u2019t Nokia\u2019s first entry into the virtual world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In 2021, for example, it tapped <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/blockchain-news\"><span>blockchain<\/span><\/a><span> to power its enterprise-grade data platform known as the Nokia Data Marketplace. Last year, the telecom company embraced <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/what-is-the-metaverse\"><span>metaverse<\/span><\/a><span> technology to link beer brewers in Australia and Germany.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span>Nokia Joins the Crowd<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>Nokia isn\u2019t the first tech company to join the crypto and blockchain worlds. Samsung has also in the past filed a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/samsung-applies-for-three-blockchain-patents-in-europe\"><span>patent<\/span><\/a><span> describing a blockchain KeyStore, a software application presumed to provide safe storage for crypto private keys.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Samsung has, however, made more strides in the virtual world than Nokia. It, for example, offered to provide a crypto vault in the Samsung Galaxy S10 released a few years ago.
