Questlove<\/a> is set to direct a new documentary about the history of Saturday Night Live<\/em>\u2019s musical guests, Deadline<\/a> and Variety<\/em><\/a> report. To coincide with SNL<\/em>\u2019s five decades on the air, Ladies & Gentlemen\u2026 50 Years of SNL\u00a0Music<\/em> will \u201cfeature untold stories behind the culture-defining, groundbreaking, and newsmaking musical performances, sketches, and cameos of the past 50 years.\u201d The film will include interviews with over 50 artists, including Bad Bunny<\/a>, Elvis Costello<\/a>, Billie Eilish<\/a>, Blondie<\/a>\u2019s Debbie Harry<\/a> and Chris Stein, and Jack White<\/a>. The documentary, co-directed by Oz Rodriguez, will air on January 27 on NBC.<\/p>\n Saturday Night Live<\/em>\u2019s 50th season has featured performances from Eilish<\/a>, Gracie Abrams<\/a>, Shaboozey<\/a>, Mk.gee<\/a>, Chappell Roan<\/a>, Stevie Nicks<\/a>, Coldplay<\/a>, and Jelly Roll<\/a>. Charli XCX<\/a> also stopped by studio 8H to host and perform<\/a> last month. This weekend, SNL<\/em>\u2019s last episode before breaking for the holidays will be hosted by Martin Short and feature Hozier<\/a> as musical guest.<\/p>\n Questlove previously flexed his directorial muscles with Summer of Soul<\/em>, his documentary about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival which won Best Music Film<\/a> and Best Documentary<\/a> at the 2022 Grammy Awards. It also won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature<\/a>. Earlier this year, the Roots<\/a> drummer released Hip-Hop Is History<\/em><\/a>, a new book about \u201cthe creative and cultural forces that made and shaped hip-hop.\u201d<\/p>\n
