Rumors swirled that director\/actor Justin Baldoni<\/strong> and actress Blake Lively<\/strong> weren\u2019t getting along<\/a> during the promotional tour for It Ends With Us<\/em>, which was released in August 2024.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The animosity between the pair was confirmed when Lively, 37, sued Baldoni, 40, in December 2024 for sexual harassment and accused the director of trying to tarnish her reputation with a smear\u00a0 campaign \u2013 a claim lawyers for Baldoni vehemently denied.<\/p>\n
Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh<\/b><\/h3>\n\n

In the case of 2022 release, Don\u2019t Worry, Darling,<\/em> many onlookers became more interested in the drama behind the scenes than in the film itself. The movie was directed by Olivia Wilde<\/strong> and starred Florence Pugh<\/strong> \u2013 and speculation was rife there was tension between the pair<\/a>.<\/p>\n
In the lead up to Don\u2019t Worry, Darling<\/em>\u2019s release Pugh did limited promotion for the film, avoided being photographed next to Wilde and skipped or arrived late to press commitments. While neither confirmed the truth behind their relationship, there were whispers Pugh may have been unhappy with Wilde\u2019s relationship costar Harry Styles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During her Transformer<\/em> days, Megan Fox<\/strong> rocked the boat<\/a> with director Michael Bay<\/strong> when she publicly compared him to \u201cHitler\u201d \u2013 which ultimately led to her getting fired from the franchise and replaced with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is,\u201d Fox, 38, told Wonderland Magazine<\/em> in 2009. \u201cSo he\u2019s a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he\u2019s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he\u2019s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward.\u201d<\/p>\n
While he ended up cutting her from his films, Bay told GQ Magazine<\/em> in 2011 that he wasn\u2019t particularly offended.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t hurt, because I know that\u2019s just Megan. Megan loves to get a response,\u201d Bay, 59, said. \u201cShe does it in kind of the wrong way. I\u2019m sorry, Megan. I\u2019m sorry I made you work 12 hours. I\u2019m sorry that I\u2019m making you show up on time. Movies are not always warm and fuzzy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jake Gyllenhaal and David Fincher<\/b><\/h3>\n\n

Jake Gyllenhaal<\/strong> and David Fincher<\/strong> didn\u2019t mince words when it came to talking about their experiences working with one another on 2007 film Zodiac.<\/em><\/p>\n
\u201cFincher paints with people,\u201d Gyllenhaal, 44, said of the director in 2007, complaining, \u201cIt\u2019s tough to be a colour.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fincher later had his own take on what it was like working with Gyllenhaal \u2013 and didn\u2019t hold back.<\/p>\n
\u201cJake was in the unenviable position of being very young and having a lot of people vie for his attention, while working for someone who does not allow you to take a day off,\u201d Fincher, 62, told The New York Times<\/em> in 2020. \u201cI think Jake\u2019s philosophy was informed by \u2014 look, he\u2019d made a bunch of movies, even as a child, but I don\u2019t think he\u2019d ever been asked to concentrate on minutiae, and I think he was very distracted.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another infamous case of a movie\u2019s star going head to head with its director was when Katherine Heigl<\/strong> came out swinging against the movie she was starring in, 2007\u2019s Knocked Up<\/em>.<\/p>\n
Its director Judd Apatow<\/strong> was left less than impressed when she slammed Knocked Up<\/em><\/a> during an interview with Vanity Fair<\/em> in 2008.<\/p>\n

It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days. I\u2019m playing such a bitch; why is she being such a killjoy? Why is this how you\u2019re portraying women? Ninety-eight per cent of the time it was an amazing experience, but it was hard for me to love the movie.\u201d<\/p>\n
For his part, Apatow told radio host Howard Stern<\/strong> in 2009 that he expected an apology from Heigl after the disparaging remarks but he never got one.<\/p>\n
