{"id":812876,"date":"2024-12-18T22:14:22","date_gmt":"2024-12-19T04:14:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2024\/12\/18\/london-council-seeks-contractor-developer-for-10-year-job\/"},"modified":"2024-12-18T22:14:22","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T04:14:22","slug":"london-council-seeks-contractor-developer-for-10-year-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2024\/12\/18\/london-council-seeks-contractor-developer-for-10-year-job\/","title":{"rendered":"London council seeks contractor-developer for 10-year job"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/emap-romulus-prod.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2023\/02\/Building-the-Construction-Workforce.jpg\"   alt=\"Building-the-Construction-Workforce.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A London borough has alerted contractors to a decade-long partnership deal to deliver a pipeline of schemes.<\/p>\n<p>Lewisham Council <a href=\"https:\/\/www.find-tender.service.gov.uk\/Notice\/040244-2024?origin=SearchResults&#038;p=1\">published a prior information notice<\/a> that signalled its intention to go to the market formally in February.<\/p>\n<p>The local authority said on 13 December it wanted to form a partnership for up to 10 years with &#8220;a single contractor-developer&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>This would deliver the borough\u2019s pipeline of &#8220;large-scale brownfield and regeneration housing projects&#8221; added the notice.<\/p>\n<p>Work would take place from design and planning phases through to construction, with the chosen partner acting as contractor on some schemes and as a developer on &#8220;land-led opportunities&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The council added: &#8220;We are looking for an organisation with the financial gearing and capacity, along with a solid track record of working constructively with local authorities, to collaboratively unlock these major projects.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It said it valued an &#8220;open approach that has a focus on delivery and cost certainty&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The borough&#8217;s Building for Lewisham programme is expanding the way it creates social homes, using offsite manufacture as well as a range of delivery models.<\/p>\n<p>The council has more than 10,000 families on a waiting list for residences.<\/p>\n<p>Planning applications for two sites were submitted in recent months, covering almost 400 homes as well as commercial buildings and public realm works.<\/p>\n<p>Capacity studies suggest the pipeline could be up to 1,710 new homes and the council said there was &#8220;considerable potential for the right partner to achieve attractive returns for the next decade&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The notice said between three and five firms were likely to be shortlisted for the partner role.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contracts\/london-council-seeks-contractor-developer-for-10-year-job-17-12-2024\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Greg Pitcher<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A London borough has alerted contractors to a decade-long partnership deal to deliver a pipeline of schemes.
